Geneviève is a Senior Associate Solicitor with a wealth of experience to offer having worked in this area of law for over 20 years. She is an Affiliated member of the Society for Trusts & Estate Practitioners (STEP). Passionate about providing simple and understandable solutions to what can be overwhelming or complicated legal situations, Geneviève adopts a friendly, professional and pragmatic approach to deliver efficient and effective advice and assistance to her clients. Geneviève’s particular specialisms are • Lifetime, succession and estate planning advice e.g mitigating Inheritance Tax exposure; • Probate and Administration of Estates including Intestacy, including Deeds of Variation; • Inheritance Tax, tax risk and tax planning; • Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs); • Court of Protection work including Deputyship Orders; Preparation of Disabled or Vulnerable Persons Trusts; • Mental incapacity/capacity related issues; • Trust creation and administration. Recent highlights include • Making sure all clients feel comfortable when discussing personal and emotive subjects to ensure that clear and appropriate guidance and advice can be provided. • Listening to clients and tailoring the advice specifically to their specific needs and not just providing them with a Will or Trust because “a friend” has recently prepared one in the same way. What works for one client might not work for another and will depend entirely on the client’s own personal and financial circumstances. • Creating bespoke Wills and trusts for a wide range of clients. • Providing clear advice and guidance on tax planning ensuring individuals utilise the reliefs available and optimise gifting options. • Taking steps to protect the wishes of the testator where there is the potential for conflict or contentious probate. • Advising on and assisting with the preparation of Deeds of Variation during an estate administration to make a deceased’s estate more tax efficient or tax exempt or to assist with the tax planning of a beneficiary. • Advising Executors on the administration of complex estates. Navigating the issues surrounding complications in the Will of gifts, lifetime trusts and inheritance tax, including the preparation of post-death variations.
