David is a Senior Associate Solicitor within our Dispute Resolution Team specialising in Contentious Trust and probate matters handling probate disputes involving the validity of Wills and issues concerning Trusts and Inheritance. In 2020, David completed the 3 year ACTAPS (Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists) course at the University of Law and is an associate member of ACTAPS. David qualified as a solicitor in 2014 having completed his undergraduate Law degree at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law Chester. After qualifying David has worked exclusively in litigation and further developed this specialism and now focuses on contentious probate and private client disputes. Experience David deals with a complex and varied caseload of private client disputes including: Lead solicitor acting for the successful defendant in the widely publicised High Court case of Culliford v Thorpe [2018] EWHC 426 (Ch). This was a complex case where a surviving partner was able to claim an interest in the deceased’s property by way of a constructive trust Bringing and defending claims brought by disappointed beneficiaries under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 Matters concerning the validity of wills – including mental capacity and undue influence Disputes involving the joint ownership of property – proprietary estoppel and constructive trusts Disputes arising from the administration of estates, acting on behalf of executors and beneficiaries David also has experience in bringing professional negligence claims, especially in the context of private client and trust matters and also has expertise in property litigation
