Sale Completed but Communication Was Poor Throughout
Kirwans ultimately completed the sale of my property and the retained funds have now been released. However, throughout the transaction I experienced significant communication issues and delays. For much of the process I accepted that conveyancing matters take time and that solicitors are often busy. My concerns arose when updates that were promised were not provided, emails went unanswered and I repeatedly had to chase for information. On several occasions I was told I would receive a callback or update which never arrived. There were also issues with enquiries, confusion regarding advice provided about mortgage arrears and delays in resolving the distribution of the sale proceeds following completion. I ultimately had to escalate matters to a supervising solicitor before meaningful progress was made. An incorrect completion statement was also issued and later acknowledged as an error. Whilst this was eventually corrected and agreement was reached between the parties, it contributed to further delay and uncertainty. I appreciate that Lois apologised for the delays and that the matter was ultimately resolved. However, despite instructing the firm in December 2025, I did not actually manage to speak directly with the solicitor handling my matter until June 2026 when she had to apologise. The transaction was completed successfully in the end, but the overall experience was far more stressful and time-consuming than it needed to be due to the level of communication and service received.
