Domestic Abuse Support
I went to Couchman & Hanson at the reccomention of a local on my community board. I was dealing with seperation from an abusive ex partner I have to co-parent with, having a previous court order that did not protect us from his continued post-relationship abuse. I am also currently low income/was working two jobs. Louise was my solicitor and absolutely wonderful. From patient and understanding, to empathetic, firm, and honest. She explained things thoroughly to me and was realistic, guiding me through the process and helping navigate through a really tough time. She supported my mental health that was suffering from the continued abuse, and when possible she would advocate on my behalf, dealing with my very difficult ex partner who likes to focus on any ambiguous language or anything equivocal, making following my then current court order very very difficult and distressing. Through several months Louise supported my children and myself, sorting out drafting new court orders, prepping me for court and getting my children back from my ex partner when he was pushing boundaries. She dealt with him name calling, conescending and baiting; and the general covert narcissism that is often overlooked. She was able to get as much specificity as possible (due to the judges disgression) added to my court order, to decrease the 'parental conflict' and protect me from continued abuse. She also guided me to a very talented and kind Barrister who did her best to reduce his access to myself, and put up with me crying my eyes out after court. I honestly don't think I would be as emotionally and mentally healthy right now, if it weren't for Louise. She went above and beyond trying to support me and at her job, and I truly appreciate all she did. I would recommend Couchman and Hanson to anyone suffering from domestic abuse, post-relationship abuse or general seperation.
