Our Senior Solicitor Tamsin James supports our individual/employee clients and claimants bringing Employment Tribunal claims. Tamsin brings to her work a wealth of experience not only of employment law but in particular of working with individuals who find themselves in challenging situations at work. She works closely and supportively with her clients to get the best outcomes for them. Tamsin trained and practised as an employment lawyer at a leading law firm, Simmons & Simmons, in the City of London and later at Burges Salmon in Bristol. After taking a break when her children were young (when she also managed to build a career as a trainer and lecturer and gain a Masters in Labour Law (with Distinction) at the University of Bristol), Tamsin went back into practice so that she could help individuals who are experiencing difficulties at work; something that she has always felt passionate about. She worked at a regional law centre for two years and latterly at Watkins Solicitors in Bristol, where she has built up a reputation as someone who is always on her client’s side and who gives straight, sensible, experienced advice and guidance. Tamsin particularly enjoys working on complex discrimination claims and supporting individuals with disabilities, but also takes equal satisfaction in helping clients who are simply leaving a job under a Settlement Agreement. Tamsin is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association’s Standing Committee on Sexual Harassment. The Committee was set up to to enable the Employment Lawyers Association to respond to future consultations and inquiries on sexual harassment as they arise. She brings this valuable experience back into her role when advising on sexual harassment cases Earlier in life Tamsin studied Modern History at Oxford University. For the last 10 years, Tamsin has also worked as a trainer explaining the intricacies of employment law to aspiring employment solicitors.

Tamsin James, Senior Employment Solicitor

It is not often in your career that you have to employ the services of employment solicitors. When you need to it is so important to know you are in the best hands in terms of skill, experience, expertise, care, diligence and tenacity of approach. That is exactly what I found when working with Tamsin James. The stress and anxiety of dealing with a complex and challenging set of circumstances with your employer can be totally overwhelming. Tamsin's approach was firstly to reassure and take control of navigating a process to achieve the best possible outcome. Nothing was too much trouble and conversations/meetings were in person and virtual. Her interest and care of you as a person during negotiations was so impressive, and really helps your personal resilience to achieve the desired outcome. Her own values and tenacious determination is evident and I would highly recommend her.

Redundancy

I cannot thank Tasmin enough for her amazing support during such a challenging time. She was not only highly professional and knowledgeable, but she also showed genuine kindness and care throughout the process. Her expertise and dedication ensured I received my redundancy, and her compassionate approach made a difficult situation much easier to navigate. I felt truly supported every step of the way.
