Personal connection vital

During the lengthy process of resolving the issue I consulted Myersons about I have much appreciated the bright and constructive approach that Eleanor Clarke always maintained with regard to dealing with both myself, and the other side. Initially things got off to a slow start amid some confusion and misunderstanding, but when Eleanor took over it was akin to morning sunshine burning off the murky mists on the night enshrouded land below. I always enjoyed my interactions with her and I rate her interpersonal as well as her legal skills, highly. Not the least has been her delightful sense of humour. I would be happy to recommend Eleanor to anyone, at any time !

Contentious probate

I am an eldest son. My late mother died in December 2018 leaving an estate of £360k exclusively to a younger "sibling" and her illegitimate son. Myerson acted for me in an Inheritance Act claim action and produced a derisory settlement of £20k. The way the law in England & Wales is currently framed this actually is considered a "fair" outcome. Inheritance law needs root and branch reform but that is a matter for another day. Myerson were acting on the basis of a Contingency Fee Agreement. They put up a reasonable fight although we were up against a humpty dumpty lawyer from Blackpool and I had rather hoped Myerson would wipe the floor with him. John Lambe initiated my claim and then left Myerson within days. Eleanor Clarke picked up the baton and saw the claim through all the joys of Covid-19 with virtual hearings and zooms culminating in closure in October last. I ended up with £20k my late "mother" did not intend me to have. This is thanks to Myerson who kept their word that they would not trouser any of my settlement in their fees. Adam Maher, senior partner, supervised the claim from start to finish and was always responsive. I would have preferred to have had my day in court and won. Myerson secured a compromise. Had I been a pay-as-you-go client I might have had a different opinion but I have to be content with matters as they stand. Myerson will tell you I was not an easy client to manage but as they claimed around £50k in costs and professional fees I imagine I represented some value to them.
