Alexandra Lane was called to the bar in 2005 and cross qualified as a solicitor 2012, undertaking her criminal higher rights of audience the same year. She is regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Her background is in general criminal law and white collar crime, but since 2011 she has been representing health care professionals before their regulator as well as the criminal courts and is now an expert in the field of professional disciplinary work. She specialises in representing health care professionals before fitness to practice and conduct committees at both the investigation stage and full hearings. She has represented professionals before a wide range of regulators including The General Chiropractic Council (GCC), The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), The General Medical Council (GMC), The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), The General Dental Council (GDC), The Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), The United Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) as well as any associated criminal investigations or proceedings. Alexandra Lane has a high success rate where most cases conclude with no findings against the registrant, either as a result of successful representations at the investigation stage or none of the allegations being found proved at a full hearing. She is renowned for her excellent client care skills, putting clients at ease and supporting them throughout the entire process, from an initial complaint to a final hearing. Her background in criminal work included representing defendants in large VAT and mortgage frauds, including representing one of seven defendants as both solicitor and advocate in one of the FSA’s largest operations for insider dealing. She also represented senior individuals at large international corporations as persons of interest in relation to Libor, Forex and bribery and corruption investigations. She has successfully defended health care professionals accused of criminal offences including driving offences, theft, fraud, voyeurism, sexual assault and murder. In her spare time Alexandra volunteers as a Trustee of a childhood cancer charity after tragically losing her eldest son to the disease in 2018. She lives in Buckinghamshire with her Partner and two other young children and enjoys playing tennis, reading, fitness and spending quality time with her family.

Very supportive and communicate very well

I had a recent case against me from the GCC. The whole process was very nerve racking but Alexandra took the time to explain the process step by step to help with everything. The hearing was very short and I finally have a end to the 3 years of stress and I’m very thankful to Alexandra and Johnathan for the help and support.

Outstanding Legal Support

From my very first conversation with Alexandra, Jonathan, and the team, I felt genuine support during the most stressful period of my professional career. What impressed me most was that they were willing to offer guidance and support before I had even formally instructed them. At a time when I felt completely overwhelmed and unsure where to turn, they took the time to explain the process, answer my questions and help me understand my options without any pressure. That immediately gave me confidence that I was dealing with people who genuinely cared. When I was facing Fitness to Practise proceedings, I felt incredibly isolated. My own insurance company and professional organisation offered zero practical support, so having a legal team who took the time to understand my case, explain every step and fight my corner made an enormous difference. One thing that stood out to me was that they took the time to listen to my side of the story in detail. Rather than simply accepting the allegations at face value, he made sure I had the opportunity to explain what had happened from my perspective and helped ensure that my account was presented accurately and fairly. I felt that the allegations did not fully reflect the true circumstances, and having someone who was prepared to examine the evidence carefully rather than make assumptions gave me confidence that my case was being properly represented. Alexandra was meticulous in reviewing the evidence, identifying weaknesses in the allegations and helping me prepare my witness statement and supporting documents. I didn’t feel like just another client; I always felt that she genuinely cared about achieving the best possible outcome for me. Thanks to their help and support, I was able to successfully oppose the application for my interim suspension. Remaining in practice while my case continues has been genuinely life-changing. It has allowed me to continue treating my patients, maintain my livelihood, and avoid the devastating personal and financial consequences that an interim suspension would have caused. Throughout the process, communication has been excellent. I have always received honest advice, realistic expectations, and prompt responses to my questions. Even now, Alexandra continues to explore every possible avenue to protect my interests, including challenging my insurer's refusal to provide cover for the substantive hearing. I would not hesitate to recommend Alexandra, Jonathan and the team to any healthcare professional facing regulatory proceedings. Their expertise, professionalism and compassion have made an incredibly difficult experience much more manageable, and I will always be grateful for the support they have given me.

BACP representation

I found Alexandra at Cura Law to be approachable and accommodating, providing a high standard of professionalism throughout the period in which we engaged. She was warm, friendly and efficient. Alexandra was an attentive listener and was able to explain things with clarity and in terms I could understand, helping me to feel reassured when things felt difficult or opaque. She was proactive and engaged, and demonstrated a great depth of legal knowledge around this particular area. There was a willingness to accommodate any queries or requests I had, setting up meetings and following up on emails promptly, keeping me fully aware. I am deeply grateful for the level of service which Alexandra provided, I felt very comfortable talking matters through with her and would highly recommend her services to others.

Excellent service and 2 brilliant minds

I have unfortunately needed the services of Jonathan Goldring and Alexandra Lane on 2 occasions. In both of these complaints the support and service that I received was exceptional and I would happily recommend them to my mother (if she were a chiropractor).

Thank you very much for such a kind review. We are sorry that you have had to call on us twice, but very pleased that we were able to support you on both occasions. Your recommendation means a great deal to us, and we are especially honoured to receive the “mother test”, even if, on this occasion, it is sadly limited to hypothetical chiropractic mothers.
