Qaisar has considerable experience in education, public and discrimination law, having acted in a broad range of legal matters, many complex and involving young people with significant needs. His practice benefits from his family law training, where he worked in areas that often cross over with education (such as care proceedings, child protection and private children disputes). He has acted in several reported cases that have brought about further judicial guidance and legal precedence in areas of SEN and discrimination. In 2023, Qaisar won the prestigious Law Society Legal Hero award for his far-reaching work securing education, health and social care support for young people with additional needs. Prior to this, he won the widely respected Legal Aid Lawyer of the Year award in 2022 (Public Law category). Qaisar has been nationally ranked in Chambers and Partners since 2020 and currently sits in Band 1 for Education, with only a small number of other solicitors. As his strengths, Chambers notes that Qaisar “provides an outstanding service” and is “an excellent education solicitor and rated very highly”. Further, “he is a fantastic and genuine solicitor who conducts himself professionally”.

SEND Tribunal support

Qaisar was an excellent support the whole way through this complex tribunal. He was always available to answer any questions, was very knowledgeable and generally made me and my colleagues feel supported and at ease the whole way through. Thank you

SEND and Section 19 support

Qaisar delivered on the brief to our group of SENDCo's and Headteachers. The messages were delivered clearly and sensitively with a vast amount of knowledge behind it all. Staff felt incredibly supported and knew they could ask for advice and guidance throughout. Thank you

Thank you Qaisar

If there were more people like Qaisar Sheikh on this planet, the world would be a much better place. Let me explain: when I called him mid-way through my somewhat tangled-up EHCP application – in which an EHCP had been granted but without any detail, with a setting that needed to be changed multiple times and had also morphed into a phase transfer application – he was lightning-fast to grasp the complexities and nuances of the case. I knew the moment I spoke to him that I could trust him implicitly. Qaisar brings a unique blend of compassion, strategy and tactical thinking to his work, and from the outset, he fought for my son as if he was his own. He’s meticulous, consistent and an excellent communicator, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of case law and an uncanny ability to reel off relevant recent precedents. I wish I’d been with Qaisar from the start of the EHCP process, and I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend him. It’s a gruelling process, but Qaisar navigated me through it deftly, with integrity, tenacity and empathy, making it as painless as it could possibly be. He is a truly brilliant lawyer and an all-round amazing human, and my son and I are eternally indebted to him for the positive outcome he secured for us, which is also as future-proofed and watertight as it could possibly be. Thank you Qaisar, you're our hero.

Qaisar is the solicitor you need with your EHCP application

After a failed attempt at EHCP we have asked the assistance of a solicitor for round two. Qaisar was absolutely helpful. He was attentive, meticulous and looked out for the smaller details. With his support we even managed to shorten the appeal process. His knowledge, insight is only matched by his kindness. We are absolutely grateful and highly recommend him.

would highly recommend Qaisar Sheikh, solicitor, for anyone dealing with Special Educational Needs (SEN) cases. Qaisar stepped in in February, after my daughter had been out of school since September. From the outset, he was decisive, knowledgeable, and entirely focused on securing what my daughter was legally entitled to. Within few weeks, he successfully pushed the council to take action and my daughter was back in education. Following this, he and his team represented us at Tribunal, where we won the case against the council. The council was found to have acted unlawfully across all areas, and as a result, my daughter was finally granted a permanent placement that could — and did — meet her needs. If you are facing delays, unlawful decisions, or a lack of action from a local authority, I would strongly recommend Qaisar Sheikh and his firm for Special Educational Needs matters and more. Up to this day I’m so grateful he worked on my daughter‘s case and to this day I still run to him for advice when encounter issues.

Qaisar of Winckworth Sherwood was recommended to me so I instructed him to help with my son’s SEN tribunal appeal against my local authority. He did a great job for me over the course of 10 months, liaising with the local authority, my son’s school and many independent experts. Qaisar was a good listener and communicator. He navigated this tricky area of law and enabled us as a family to achieve all desired outcomes for my son incorporating a comprehensive and robust EHCP. I would not hesitate to recommend.
