We are extremely pleased with our experience using Bird & Co Solicitors for purchasing our first home. The process was made easy and done professionally. Team Chard dealt with the conveyance swiftly and efficiently - Sophie, Hannah and Grace were friendly and well-organized at every stage, keeping us updated all the time and happy to answer emails almost straightaway. We also loved InTouch portal where we could see the progress and always know what part of the sales stage we were in. All my colleagues were amazed that I didn't have to call the solicitor's office even once to find out what's going on as I was able to check it online all the time. No personal contact whatsoever. All done online and the system is very unreliable. They couldn't make their mind up if I'd completed their forms or not. Had to do it several times. No updates unless you chase them yourself repeatedly. I had to push them along every step of the way. Even the estate agents were chasing them to make progress. I had no idea what was happening most of the time. They refused to review the file as they went along, and wouldn't answer my questions or consider my comments until the end when everything was complete, and that added to delays. Took them 4 months to do a simple cash purchase with no chain, no mortgage, no complications. That was with all the coaxing and pushing. This was before lockdown. The only thing they did thoroughly and efficiently was vetting me, their client, under the Money Laundering Regs. They did that really well, and made it clear that are certainly not on my side. They made errors that I had to pick up and didn't even spell my name right. They blamed the other side for delays and yet the vendor told me he'd sent it all in months earlier. After completion they returned important documents and all my personal ID docs to me in the post in inadequate packing and lost some and the rest were returned in open bags so anybody could read them. I was horrified, but the boss, Daniel Chard blamed it on Royal Mail and refused to accept any responsibility at all. He was perfectly happy with that practice. I chose them and asked for Victoria Wakley because they had the best reviews in Grantham, but, if this is the best that Grantham has to offer, go to Notts.
