Overview Esmée Keeper Redshaw is an Solicitor Apprentice within BHP Law’s Court of Protection team in our Durham office. She assists with a range of matters involving vulnerable individuals, including cases where issues of capacity, welfare, and safeguarding are central. As part of her apprenticeship, Esmée combines practical experience within the firm with academic study at Northumbria University, where she continues to build her legal knowledge and professional skills. She is expected to graduate in 2028, before progressing to complete the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE) as part of her qualification pathway. Esmée is developing experience in Court of Protection and previous to that, she spent a significant amount of time working in our Family Law Department learning all aspects of Family Law matters. Experience & background Esmée is currently a Solicitor Apprentice, working four days per week in practice at BHP Law, while dedicating one day each week to study at Northumbria University. Within the firm, she supports the Court of Protection team and clients, gaining exposure to a broad range of matters. In Court of Protection work, she assists with case preparation, document drafting, and day-to-day file management in cases involving individuals who lack capacity. In Family Law, she has gained experience supporting children law matters and broader family-related issues, assisting solicitors with case preparation and client support in sensitive and often complex situations. She is expected to graduate in 2028, after which she will sit the Solicitors’ Qualifying Examinations (SQE) as part of her route to qualification as a solicitor. Approach Esmée is a conscientious and committed Solicitor Apprentice who is focused on developing her legal skills across both Court of Protection and Family Law. She takes a careful and supportive approach to her work, with a strong emphasis on learning, accuracy, and professionalism. She is continuing to build her expertise and experience in working with clients in sensitive circumstances and is developing the communication skills needed to provide clear and compassionate support.
