Poor from the outset
We used Howard and over for our purchase of our first home together. When we found out we were assigned the partner for residential sales, we thought we lucked out, we were wrong. Following our initial details and documents, the communication from H&O became scarce and only when prompted. 2 months in we found out that they neglected to tell us that the house we thought was freehold was actually leasehold, by which time we’d already done a survey and incurred costs (if we’d known this sooner, we might’ve been able to make a decision about whether we still wanted the house). We only found this out by sending almost a half dozen emails asking the same questions, which were not/partially answered each time. During the whole process, we were made to feel like everytime we asked for an update that we were inconveniencing them. Every email and phonecall was answered with an air of annoyance and rarely were we given a straight answer. At the end of the process, after 4 separate emails of asking, I rang to figure out a completion date, only to be told that I had to organise this with all the estate agents myself as this was “the easiest option”. Both estate agents were astounded that this had been given to me to do, as was I. Following completion, we didn’t get a single message or comment of congratulations, and we were sent an incorrect bill which they were very forceful in getting us to pay immediately. Overall a really disappointing experience and I will recommend to anyone who will listen to avoid this firm
