I was arrested and kept overnight. The next day I was interviewed and was not only terrified but distraught at what was happening. My solicitor was professional but also friendly, kind and compassionate. They kept me grounded and explained everything that was happening. I wasn't made to feel silly for asking questions and was able to tell my side of the story without judgement. After my interview my solicitor praised me and said how well I had done and what would happen now. Been praised may sound a bit contrived but in that moment it was exactly what I needed. These small acts of kindness have gone a long way and helped during a very traumatic time.
