Stacey is a highly experienced solicitor who has worked at Olliers for over 20 years. She is responsible for all aspects of financial and operational compliance and is the firm’s COLP and COFA. Pre-Charge Work Stacey is known for her pro-active approach during the ongoing investigation stage of a case and is regularly instructed to consider the issue of pre-charge representations. Pre-charge work involves liaising with the Police and CPS at the investigation stage of an allegation to make the process more balanced and to make representations either that the allegations should not be charged or to suggest an out of court disposal may be more appropriate than a prosecution. Case Example Pre-Charge Work Case T – After a house party the defendant walked the complainant home and they engaged in sexual activity. He was arrested the next day for an allegation of rape. The defendant put forward that the sexual activity was consensual. Stacey liaised with the police and suggested further lines of enquiry for the police that had not been previously identified. Once the police had fully investigated the case, including the further suggested lines of enquiry the police indicated they would drop the case. The defendant was extremely relieved and grateful for the outcome. Serious Crime Stacey has represented defendants in a wide range of matters ranging from assault, serious sexual offences including rape and drug offences. Stacey also has substantial experience on larger scale serious crime matters such as drug conspiracies and murder. Stacey is also regularly instructed in relation to sexual allegations such as rape, historical sexual abuse, sexual communication and indecent image cases. Her methodical approach and persistence with issues of disclosure has led to successful outcomes for her clients.
