Solicitor - Property Litigation

Accepting new clients via ReviewSolicitors

I am a solicitor in the Property Litigation team at Paris Smith, having joined the firm in 2014 as a trainee before qualifying into the Commercial Property department. During that time, I gained experience drafting commercial leases and advising on the sale and purchase of leasehold properties and land. Since specialising in property litigation in 2018, I have developed a varied caseload covering both commercial and residential property disputes. My work includes commercial lease renewals (including service of s.25 and s.26 notices and opposing or commencing proceedings for new leases), break notices, dilapidations claims, breach of lease matters, forfeiture and trespass, commercial rent arrears recovery (CRAR), and disputes relating to rights of way, easements and restrictive covenants. I also advise on agricultural tenancies, leasehold enfranchisement, adverse possession claims, neighbour and boundary disputes (including Party Wall Act matters), and contentious property issues arising from insolvency. In addition, I regularly handle residential landlord and tenant matters, including possession proceedings, serving section 8 and section 21 notices, tenancy renewals, deposit disputes, enforcement of possession and money judgments, and residential lettings advice. My residential leasehold work includes both voluntary and statutory lease extensions and enfranchisement under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993. I particularly enjoy helping clients resolve complex property disputes in a practical and effective way. I am a member of the Property Litigation Association and the Southampton Property Association.

Outstanding support during a difficult legal process

I wanted to take this opportunity to write to you to commend Lisa White for her handling of the possession of Wessex Manor, my family home. I had previously instructed another Southampton firm to deal with the possession, but after a failed Section 21, I felt quite let down and poorly informed. Seeking a more professional approach, I contacted Paris Smith and was put in touch with Lisa. From the outset, I found Lisa to be professional, capable, knowledgeable and attentive; she remained all of those things throughout the 8-month process of gaining possession. Uncooperative tenants made the situation very stressful at times; Lisa's warmth and understanding was so appreciated and made the difficult times a lot more bearable. Because of my experience with Lisa, I have decided to use Paris Smith for all of our legal needs from now on. I have been working with various solicitor firms in Southampton for decades but I have rarely enjoyed such a high level of client service.
