Practice Manager
Hilary was a practice manager at two of Manchester’s leading motoring law firms before joining Kenway Miller on its inception in 2011. She has been working in this area of law since 1999. She offers a sensitive and reassuring presence at the end of the phone line and is often the first point of contact for those making the initial call and who are in need of reassurance (often outside working hours!).
Hilary is a “jack of all trades” when it comes to the running of the practice. She involves herself in our administration and accounts as well as taking on some of the paralegal work required.
She was involved in establishing two previous legal practices before Kenway Miller Solicitors and was at the forefront of what could be described as the motoring law boom at the turn of the century which resulted in the proliferation of other similar practices in the Manchester area.
Whilst Hilary is not legally qualified, she has a wealth of experience in the field and works tirelessly to help achieve the best result possible for all those she comes into contact with. She is well used to dealing with distressed clients in a compassionate yet meticulous manner.

Hilary was always available to calm, reassure and support me. Several times I called her to talk about the case and she gave me the strength to carry on, sharing with me wise tips on how to manage the overwhelming anxiety that I was experiencing whilst waiting for my court date. She made me feel not so alone or scared and gave me hope. She is an amazing woman.
Matthew is extremely knowledgable on legal processes and how to build a strong case using his in-depth knowledge of the legal system. He is professionally brilliant, caring and non judgemental. He was always prompt in replying to any questions I sent him by text or email. His good communication skills proved to be emotionally invaluable for me, as I had so many questions and fears. I felt I was able to trust and rely on for him for sage advice and guidance.
They both worked so very my case, the commitment they bring to defending their clients is one I can wholeheartedly recommend.
Mr P Lucas must also get a mention here, as he is the barrister you want and need to represent you should you ever be in this scenario. He is incredibly knowledgable upon legal matters, court procedures and police protocol. A fastidious professionally brilliant barrister who left no stone unturned. Mr Lucas has a lovely calm demeanour, and is a caring and approachable professional. This I was greatly appreciative of as he gave me reassurance , hope and comfort whilst waiting anxiously at the court.
From start to finish I felt in was in safe hands with Kenway Miller. The end result of No further action only goes to prove just how amazing these three are.

Professional service
I’m writing this review not to share my case in detail as all cases are different but to say a massive thank you.
If you’re reading this you are most likely to be looking for a legal defence team look no further. All I can comment on is my personal experience with Kenway Miller which was without doubt first class. Right from the outset the professionalism was evident by way of communications thoroughness reassurance honesty. Highly Recommended
Pulled over by the police with Automatic Number Plate Recognition on their patrol car flagging up no insurance, (subsequently, insurance was found to be correct), was roadside tested with a drugswipe which proved positive and was arrested and taken to a Police Investigation Centre where blood was taken for analysis. Notified nearly 6 months later that the blood was over the limit for THC and was to appear at Magistrates court 2 months later.
Scoured the web for the best legal team and eventually having talked with many we talked with Hilary & Mathew at Kenway Miller who reassured us that they and their team were at the very very top of their game and believe me they are.
Magistrates court came along and a competent Barrister guided us through the day. Pleading Not Guilty, a trial date was set for 4 months later. With 2 weeks to go, the trial was vacated because of a lack of court resources and the trial was rearranged for 6 months later.
Six months later, with the trial imminent, the CPS had still not disclosed all their evidence to the defence despite being directed to do so by the original Magistrates some 10 months earlier. As a result, Kenway Millers forensics team still had not had the opportunity to check all the toxicology reports on the blood samples.
The day before the trial the CPS disclosed that the prosecution’s main witness, the arresting officer, would not now attend as they were busy elsewhere and that they would be applying for an adjournment of the trial. On the day of the trial, was represented by the brilliant barrister Mr Lucas. Mr Lucas’s knowledge of the court procedures, his presentation around the non-disclosure of the evidence and his arguments concerning the late notification of non-attendance of the prosecution’s main witness eventually led to the magistrates conferring for what must have been 30 seconds before dismissing the application for an adjournment and the case was dismissed.
I cannot emphasise enough that Kenway Miller are the team to go to for support for any motoring offences – Hilary, always at the end of the phone, in control and giving reassurance on any concerns, Mathew, again always available with his case management and in-depth knowledge of the legal system and processes, the toxicology team analysing what reports had been produced and barrister Mr Lucas with his brilliant analytical skills, legal knowledge & presentations.

Kenway Miller - THE best Solicitors to have on your side!
Thanks to Kenway Miller, Matthew and Hillary, my close to 12 month ordeal finally ended in my favour. It felt like a lifetime of uncertainty, but with Matthew and Hillary fighting in my corner for justice I felt hopeful every step of the way
After being arrested, having a blood specimen taken without my consent and spending the night in a cell, I was beyond distraught. My career, studies and future hung unsteadily in front of me and I felt I had nowhere to turn.
After scouring the internet, I contacted Kenway Miller immediately. Hillary immediately put me at ease, showed a great capacity for caring and spent time speaking with me as I all but broke down over the phone. She gave me sage advise - she said nothing could be done until/if the results came back and that I had to take care of myself in the meantime. I contacted other Solicitors too who also specialised in drug driving cases but I was put off as most of them wanted me to pay in advance for packages etc when Kenway Miller had done the opposite and rightfully, honestly told me that nothing could be done until I was charged.
Five months and three weeks later, I got the dreaded court summons in the post. I once again contacted Kenway Miller and immediately spoke with Matthew who discussed how to proceed. Not once were any false promises made, nor were my worries pushed aside as Matthew spoke with me. Bear in mind this was over the bank holidays, yet I wasn’t waiting around for long.
Magistrates Court was horrendous but the barrister that Kenway Miller had provided me with was so calm and understanding and he rightfully pushed for me to be seen to enter my not guilty plea and then spent time explaining everything to me, even going as far as to sit with me in a room afterwards as I collected my bearings.
Over the next following months Matthew continued to keep me in the loop and update me via email to let me know how things were progressing and any time I called Kenway Miller, Hillary was ready to speak to me and give me her time. Regardless of how much I was panicking, Hillary was a true pillar of strength.
A few weeks before I was to attend court, I received the best phone call of my life from Matthew who had told me that CPS were dropping my case, no doubt thanks to Kenway Miller who were constantly fighting for me and rightfully breathing down CPS’ neck. I can’t explain how good that call felt, and immediately all the stress and burden from near enough the past year felt like a weight lifted from my shoulders.
In the darkest period of my life, Kenway Miller were the only source of light. Yes, I had to pay a fee, but this is nothing, a mere drop in the ocean, compared to the freedom and simple joy I have regained now that this gloomy cloud has moved on and that’s all thanks to the hard work and dedication of Kenway Miller.
I’m leaving this review in case anyone else ever finds themselves in the same unfortunate position as I was once in because I would not hesitate to recommend Kenway Miller, quite possibly the best solicitors (who in turn have access to the best barristers) to have on your side and two people who would truly fight in your corner for YOU.
Matthew and Hillary, you are two absolute gems. I cannot ever thank you enough for how you both saved me.

Hilary is a lifesaver
I was recommended Kenway Miller by a family friend. Hilary took the time to listen and understand my case and set my mind at rest. We agreed on a plan to best represent my case, and I was made aware of the best and worst outcomes, so I knew what to expect. Knowledgeable, courteous and professional.
I have required the professional services of Matthew twice over the last 10 years. His knowledge of the road traffic laws is second-to-none! When the letter arrives through the post from the Police, it’s often worded in such a way that leaves you feeling banged to rights, with no defence.
However, with Matthew’s expert scrutiny, I have found on both occasions that I not only had better options available to me but in one case, the legal proceedings against we were unfounded and ALL CHARGES WERE DROPPED! Had I not sought his legal advice I would have liked conceded and received a penalty.
In all correspondence between myself and Matthew and his secretary Hilary, they have provided nothing but exemplary prompt and professional service.
I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to provide this feedback as I’ve recommended Kenway Miller to friends and colleagues.
If you have received a letter through the post concerning a road traffic offence I seriously urge if not beg you to contact them.

Kenway Miller Solicitors helped me get my life back following what was one of the most stressful episodes of my life. I had never been in custody before and suffered a history of panic attacks. When the police asked me to provide a blood sample I was paralysed by fear. I was suffering from palpitations and could not stand up properly. The police would not listen to me and insisted “I was trying it on” even after I had been taken to hospital. I really thought that conviction was inevitable and it was just a question of how long I would be banned for but Kenway Miller Solicitors completely changed my outlook on the case. After several months, and after an expert report had been obtained to support my case, the prosecution finally relented and withdrew the case against me.

Thanks to the services of Kenway Miller Solicitors, I escaped what would have been a devastating situation as the impact of losing my licence was unthinkable. The fees I paid were a small price to pay when compared to the difference it made for me and my family.
