We bought our dream (and final) house and it was a nightmare dealing with Capstone Law, Bristol. They were paid for a house sale, a house purchase and some financial work.
For a small firm they took on too much work at a busy time- yet still the senior partner took leave, and delays followed. These delays cost us money.
Twice we were told go elsewhere - firstly after we had paid the full sale fee when we needed to have a date to book a remover, and we were told that yet again very close to completion. It was clearly impossible to 'go elsewhere' so we, as an elderly professional couple, had to put up with that unpleasant and unprofessional behaviour.
And this was by a senior partner. Their locum described himself as technologically challenged - this led to more delays as he had no scanner. We had to explain to him how to photograph and email documents. And, they could not present an accurate finance statement- it was thousands more- which we had to check and correct! Thankfully we could work out their mistakes and we could do that work for them. Many others would not have been able to.
Unlike with a previous house purchase, where we were given a paper dossier of the important purchase documents all Capstone provided was many emailed docs- some duplicated - a chaotic and a cheapskate way of providing important legal documents.
It was an unpleasant and expensive experience, and no doubt they would blame the Covid situation. But their threats to terminate our conveyancing were unnecessary. A Christian ethos? as they claim - not at all. We really regret using them.
