We did not have a good experience with Peter Dunn for the sale of our property. At the offset I was concerned that our buyers may pull out so I was hesitant about instructing solicitors and potential cost implications - I discussed my concerns with Chloe in detail and felt assured that if the buyers did pull out, given that we were committed to selling, the file could simply transfer over to a different buyer. Unfortunately our buyer did pull out before any exchange and I was shocked to receive a bill for around £700 and was advised that whilst our file could be transferred to a new buyer, the fees would start from scratch (fixed fee rate of £1200). Whilst we expected some minor costs to be associated with the work completed, the amount seemed excessive and having worked in law myself, when I asked for a break down of the bill it was clear they would be billing again for work already completed, which I queried. Chloe confirmed they would reduce the bill slightly but would not move from their stance that any future work would be billed from scratch, despite initial work already being complete. I felt completely mis led from our initial conversations and when discussing costs and concerns in this regard, had she advised from the outset that this would be the case we would never have instructed them. In hindsight I should have followed the initial conversation up in writing, however I genuinely trusted Chloe as I made my concerns very clear regarding costs and she sounded genuine. If this is standard practice then I would have expected to be advised of this. They were not concerned about losing a client, which is the case as I could not continue to work with this firm who I no longer trust and who are purposely charging excessively. I would be very cautious with this firm - if our buyers hadn’t pulled out we may have been able to have a different experience, however this was out of our control and our experience with Peter Dunn added additional stress to an already stressful situation - I would not take them at their word and would ensure everything is followed up in writing to protect yourself.

I had to change Solicitors as my one was sold and moved location. I wanted a local firm for face to face contact. I went through with Peter Dunn, all my needs, Will, POA and conveyancing for future rental purchases. They successfully completed the Will and POA, returning calls in good time. I then agreed to a purchase of a rental property and contacted my solicitor, Peter Dunn. I was sent an email telling me that they did not have the resources to work as my solicitor for the purchase. I sent a 2nd email as I did not fully understand what the first email was telling me as it mentioned the fact that there was a tenant involved. The 2nd email I received from PD not only told me again that they could not work for me but it came across as patronizing and putting me in my place. I will not be using PD again and if one day I can afford too I will be moving my Will and POA to another firm. This has all been very disappointing.

Following the death of a friend, I had an excellent experience with Peter Dunn and Co in their legal assistance in handling a complex estate. A wide range of work was courteously and efficiently delivered, ranging from gaining of Grant of Probate, sale of property, sale of investments, calculation and payment of Inheritance Tax and the expert and prompt preparation of a Deed of Variation. At all times the firm was speedy and responsive, featuring excellent co ordination of legal practitioners and administrative staff. Complex issues were mediated to me with clarity, liaison with other bodies was prompt and effective, and charges were more than reasonable for the work delivered. An excellent service, I would unhesitatingly recommend Peter Dunn and Co.

I have recently used the services of Alex and Joy at Peter Dunn. Alex for my late mothers estate and Joy for conveyancing. Both took the pressure from me at a very difficult time. Communication was excellent and I always knew exactly what was happening. I would not hesitate to recommend either solicitor.

I highly recommend solicitor Andrew Tilbury from Peter Dunn. He is extremely professional and his advice was invaluable. Andrew has a fantastic way of making you feel totally at ease and that he really is there for you. He is very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. I can't recommend him and this business enough. All the staff I dealt with there too including Danielle were brilliant during this difficult time with COVID. Thanks for everything Andrew. It's a definite five stars from me.
