I received a great service, just as I have on previous times when using this firm. Nothing ever felt too much trouble. I would happily recommend them and indeed use them again myself.

If you value your sanity, do NOT use Hughes Solicitors in Heathfield for your conveyancing. My experience in 2024 included:- -they accepted my case knowing they had staffing issues which would affect the service they would be able to offer; this was not disclosed to me and was dis-honest -Very poor communication with no responses to either my or my mortgage advisors emails over a 6 week period. This only changed after I had submitted two formal complaints, both of which were upheld. -My mortgage advisor often seemed more knowledgeable than the solicitor, and advised the latter on a number of issues which, as a senior partner, the solicitor should have been aware of -There were "sloppy" mistakes in some of the legal documents , including mixing Hughes address with my own. These should have been identified by Hughes and not let for me to discover! -Perhaps worse of all was a panic telephone call late pm on my moving day, telling me they had made a mistake with the financial transfer to my bank account....overpaid me by £9000, and were demanding I paid this back into their account by the next morning. Taking into account all their past mistakes, I naturally needed to check this out and in addition, I did not have internet connection, due to the move. However, Hughes was bullying and intimidating......they even posted a . letter through my door later that evening. Overall m their behavior was unprofessional

Do not use this company for house sale/purchase unless you are prepared to wait, wait, wait & wait. 6 months from accepting an off on our house, exchange has still not been completed. Unable to give realistic dates & very difficult to contact by phone. Have to leave messages, never phone back

We have just completed on the sale of our house, at the top of a chain of 7. We have had really efficient service throughout. Despite reams of form filling, Lisa always highlighted anything we had missed in one email, making it really easy for us to reply quickly. We also had quick responses to any queries via email, and any documents we posted into the office door were always received by the relevant member of staff the next day, despite the pandemic.
