Review of Solicitor's Services for Fund Verification
I engaged the services of McVey & Murricane to handle the verification of funds for my house purchase. Unfortunately, my experience with the company has been far from satisfactory. I initially paid extra money to ensure a thorough check of my funds, which they claimed were necessary due to the complexity of the transaction.
Right from the beginning, there were unnecessary complications with the funds they asked me to provide. I had to approach my friend, mother, and sister to obtain their bank statements, which I did promptly. The total amount of £35,000 was entirely legitimate, and I made sure to provide all the details of the bank transfers as requested.
However, instead of efficiently handling the verification process, the company kept requesting additional bank statements, causing unnecessary delays and frustration. I provided my mother's bank statement, as they had asked for it, but then they turned around and asked for another statement of my mum. This seemed like a never-ending loop, and I reached a point where I could no longer tolerate their incompetence.
When I decided to cancel the house sale due to the continuous issues with the solicitor's firm, they presented me with a fee notice that I had no idea about. The fee notice includes various items such as "Funds Received 354 pounds," "Government Taxes Paid on Your Behalf," "Fees Subject to VAT," and other charges. It appears that I still owe the company £308.40, which I am totally shocked with this after one month.
Furthermore, the solicitor's communication and professionalism were lacking throughout the entire process. They failed to keep me informed adequately, and their requests for additional documents seemed arbitrary and disorganized.
Considering the level of frustration and disappointment I faced dealing with McVey & Murricane, I cannot recommend their services to anyone. As a result of their incompetence, I had to cancel the house sale, causing additional inconvenience and stress.
In conclusion, I regret choosing McVey & Murricane for this important legal task, and I would strongly advise others to seek more competent and reliable solicitors for their legal needs. The experience has been nothing short of a disappointment, and I am still uncertain about the validity of the fees they claim I owe.
