What clients say about Leading Property Lawyers
Clients praise the firm for conveyancing expertise and efficient property law handling, with many noting quick completions and smooth, well‑managed transactions. Reviewers value strong specialist knowledge, proactive case progression, and effective use of an online portal for clear status tracking. Frequently highlighted soft skills include excellent communication, responsiveness, professionalism, patience with first‑time buyers, attention to detail, and a client‑focused, reassuring manner that reduces stress during moves.
I was disappointed with my experience using LPL for my property purchase. The main issues were communication and accuracy. Throughout the transaction, I found communication to be poor. I made several calls requesting a callback, but these were often not returned. This was particularly difficult as I was working overseas in a significantly different time zone and relied heavily on prompt responses. The regular excuse was they could not phone an international phone number, despite me only providing a UK number. More concerning was an error in the purchase price recorded on my file. I had provided the correct purchase price from the outset in the initial paperwork and also discussed the figures by phone before instruction because the purchase included a discount. Despite this, the incorrect price remained on their system and was only identified at completion, which meant I had to arrange additional funds at very short notice. During the complaints process, the firm maintained that I had originally provided the wrong figure, but they were unable to provide evidence to support that assertion when asked. I found this disappointing given that I held documentation showing the correct price had been supplied from the beginning. They acknowledged some shortcomings and offered a goodwill payment. However, I did not feel this fully reflected the stress and inconvenience caused. My experience was that the transaction was completed, but the service fell short in terms of communication, attention to detail, and accountability when errors were raised. LPL's latest tactic has been to come up with new reasons for their errors, or revert to old excuses which they can't provide evidence to support.
We are sorry that you were unhappy with our service. As you have left the review anonymously, please do let us know some further details in order that we can review and respond accordingly.
Utterly unsatisfactory experience with this company. They made buying and selling a nightmare. Avoid at all costs. From repeated administrative errors, rude and dismissive solicitors, poor communication and glacially slow service, this made our moving process incredibly stressful, frustrating, difficult and upsetting. I do not usually leave negative reviews but I wouldn’t want anyone to go through the same ordeal as us. The company have also failed to respond to my complaint.
We have been unable to identify you as a client and have requested further information from you in order that we can investigate and address any concerns.
Entire chain at wits end with LPL. Lack of follow up , no call backs and agents and all parties desperate to follow up and get details. Unprofessional behaviour.
Most arrogant unprofessional lawyers I have come across rude and extremely slow . Even after 6 months and a pmortgage offer extension they have failed to complete my purchase . I have lost lost all confidence in their staff especially Sonia bains who has delayed completion at every opportunity and ignored my interests unprofessionally To add insult to injury they have charged £3500 in legal fees for a property purchase of £225k I have now to start again with a new mortgage offer with another lawyers it’ appears wasting my time and money with slow unprofessional people . Would never recommend this firm to anyone looking for a professional service . Please look at the reviews and you will see others suffering like me . Meanwhile the higher magnet have ignored request for a call back . As a client I was let in the dark and ignored they moved at their own pace to rack up a bill and not even deliver in that
We are sorry that your experience was not as good as expected and would like to address the concerns set out in your review. We take these allegations very seriously and would ask that you get in touch to provide further information at the earliest opportunity.
Absolutely awful. No communication throughout, having to constantly chase and never being able to get through to anyone. Voicemail 90% of the time or when the receptionist did promise a phone call back, it never arrived. Significantly delayed purchase and highly unprofessional. Would never recommend this solicitor when purchasing a house. Avoid at all costs.
We are sorry that you have had a poor experience and take these matters very seriously. We cannot recognise your transaction based on the information provided so please do get in touch to let us know some more detail to enable us to assist.
I recently completed a remortgage with Leading Property Lawyers and was thoroughly impressed with the service throughout. From the outset, the process was clear and efficient, with regular updates provided at every stage so I always knew exactly where my case stood. I had a number of queries along the way regarding fees, redemption figures, and the completion timeline, all of which were answered promptly, clearly, and professionally. Nothing felt rushed or glossed over, and every question I raised was addressed in full detail, which gave me real confidence in the team handling my case. The completion itself went smoothly and on the agreed date, with funds transferred efficiently and clear communication provided on next steps, including guidance on direct debits and the Land Registry registration process. I would have no hesitation recommending Leading Property Lawyers to anyone looking for a conveyancing team that combines efficiency with genuinely excellent customer service. Thank you to the whole team for making the process as smooth as possible.
Thank you for your excellent rating and detailed feedback which we are delighted to receive.
Shocking communication, administrative errors, and zero accountability. Avoid. We chose this firm based on good reviews but our experience has been an absolute nightmare. Our transaction was assigned to Morgan Dalton, who subjected us to a total absence of direct communication. He never called once to introduce himself, routinely ignored requests for callbacks and email responses were unacceptably delayed, on one occasion arriving at 11:11 PM on the fifth working day. The service was riddled with administrative incompetence. We were sent an invalid TR1 legal document to sign because they completely omitted my husband’s name. Had I not caught this error myself, we would have posted an invalid deed. Furthermore, we were forced to step in and do our solicitor's job. manually resolving a dispute over a boiler directly with the estate agents to stop our chain from collapsing because our solicitor simply wouldn't respond to anyone. In the final weeks, he passed on buyer queries regarding a gas safety check that we had already paid for and provided weeks prior; he simply hadn't reviewed our file. The buyer's and seller's estate agents, along with other solicitors in the chain, continually informed us that they were chasing our handler and receiving total silence. We later discovered he had left the firm entirely, unsure if this was due to our complaint or not but it was a quick and unexpected departure. Because of this firm's lack of internal oversight and delays, our preferred completion date of June 1st passed, causing our original mortgage deal to expire. We have been forced onto a standard variable rate, costing us an extra £439 every single month out of pocket. When we raised a formal complaint, the firm issued a generic, defensive response denying all accountability and refusing any fee reduction or compensation, hiding behind third party timelines while completely ignoring their own documented administrative errors and communication failures. While our reassigned handler has been professional, the firm's institutional lack of care and complete disregard for the massive financial damage they caused us is staggering. We will be taking this directly to the Legal Ombudsman. Save yourself the stress and financial risk and look elsewhere.
We’re sorry to read your feedback.
I would highly recommend Julie Bird. She has been excellent throughout the whole process and has always been on top of everything. Julie kept me updated, explained things clearly, and was always one step ahead, which made the whole transaction much smoother and less stressful. Her professionalism, support, and attention to detail were truly appreciated. It has been a pleasure working with Julie, and I will definitely come back to her again for my future house sale and new property purchase. Thank you, Julie, for your excellent service and support.
We appreciate your feedback and 5 star rating and look forward to working with you in the future.
We have just used LPL to buy/sell our home and thought our case handler, Sneha Rayat, was brilliant. She was friendly, professional, happy to help and very quick to respond to any queries we had. We would recommend to anyone, Thank you Sneha!
We are delighted to read your feedback and thank you for letting us know.
William represented us in the purchase of our first home, and we couldn’t have asked for a better solicitor. He was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, always responding to emails quickly and keeping us well informed every step of the way. He was extremely thorough and proactive, chasing up enquiries without us ever needing to ask. Thanks to his efficiency and dedication, we completed our purchase within just a matter of a couple of months. We highly recommend William to anyone looking for a reliable, responsive, and professional conveyancer. Thank you for making what could have been a stressful process feel so straightforward. ✨😊
We appreciate your detailed feedback and will certainly share it with the team - thank you!

LPL failed to complete my purchase. Communication is appalling, you cannot speak with your solicitor via email or phone. The complaints team and the staff who respond to reviews are at times rude and made claims that were not factually accurate. They wasted my time for months without providing proper reasoning. It's also telling that after I changed to a more expensive firm my new solicitor was able to complete the case in good time and communicate with me during the process. The case was in fact not complex and did not warrant the significant delays LPL put me through. I do not recommend this firm; instruct a more professional firm.

Such disappointing, appalling service! Nobody rings you back nor emails you. The gentleman who was dealing with my case apparently went on annual leave, but did not put his out of office on or pass the case over to anyone else in the team and therefore we missed our completion date. Will not be using again!
We note your feedback and are sorry you were unhappy with our service. Your case handler was away from the office but the relevant email was picked up and actioned within 24 hours. During this period you were updated. We await your lender to release funds in order to complete, this is outside of our control.
Faultless experience with LPL. The whole process was very smooth and Baran responded to my queries very quickly. 100% would recommend using LPL to anyone
