Appalling stay away!

We wish we had read these reviews before appointing Convey Law. Poor communication was only the start, we should have run to the hills but we cracked on as you do. They were recommended by Home Legal Direct, although lovely helpful and communicated well we feel they took money for doing nothing. Convey Law significantly over charged us, messed us about and put us through unnecessary stress. Telephone calls ignored, emails ignored and generally the communication was appalling until a senior Solicitor took over.. would avoid at all costs this conveyancing firm.

Read the negative comments tells the real story

Read the negative comments and stay away from this company!!!! Just for a simple remortgage and delayed over a month was costing me £27.49p per day and on completion withheld my money for 4 days!!! Totally unacceptable and taking legal action!!!!

Efficient

Convey law handled the sale and purchase of our house. It became quite a complicated process but convey law were extremely efficient and were by far the most communicative conveyancer in our chain. Chloe was especially tenacious even staying after hours to help get an exchange. I would highly recommend them and will definitely use them again.

Like walking down a dark tunnel, not knowing when you'll reach the end

I'm coping my review from TrustPilot to here, where Convey Law have a lot of 5 star reviews (A possible reason for this is highlighted at the end of my review). TLDR: Slow, unresponsive, charge a lot of extra fees on top of what you agreed to initially. It feels like Convey Law take on a lot more work than their conveyancers can handle. It's difficult to understand all of these 5 star reviews. I'll counter some of these points with my experience from Alex Harris and Imogen Moss. "Informed and proactive at every stage"... Getting some answers was like getting blood from a stone. I'd often ask a couple of questions in one email, most of the time I'd get a vague reply to one question, with the rest ignored. These were simple questions, ones that the estate agent immediately answered if she knew the answer, or talked to me like a human and explained the situation if the answer needed more nuance. I rarely had this from Alex or Imogen. "Completed to deadline"... What!? You managed to arrange a deadline?! My experience left me completely in the dark. Right at the start of the process I filled out a form that had a field for my ideal completion date. At no point did anyone discuss this date with me, give me guidance on if it would be possible or not. It simply slid silently by. I sent emails asking for an estimate on completion, they'd either be ignored or replied with "we're waiting on the buyer's conveyancer to do X so we can't give a date". Even asking for a ballpark estimate was out of the question. "... made what could have been a stressful process feel smooth and straightforward."... This sale has been one of the most stressful experiences of my life. I opened up to Alex about this, letting him know that I'd had a difficult year and I needed this sale wrapped up asap. He sent a nice email back, consoling me and letting me know that he was expediting the sale because the first buyer fell through. Upon completion, I had an item marked as "expedited sale fee", one of the largest items on the invoice. At no point did Alex mention this fee, it felt like a kick in the teeth after opening up to him, like my stress has been exploited... Some of you may be wondering if I'd acted in a certain way to lead to this level of service. For clarity, this is how I interacted with Alex and Imogen: - Up until the end, I left Alex and Imogen to their devices, with no email enquiries from me, I relied on their email notification system to see updates on my case. I originally chose a completion date at the end of December, so as we were approaching that date, I did start chasing them for updates and answers on whether we'd complete by my chosen date. I never got an answer about my completion date and answers to my questions were usually "we're waiting on the buyer's conveyancer to...". The completion date slid by, no answers as to when we'd complete, I was left in the dark. - When we'd been stuck on the final stage for several weeks, I started emailing weekly for updates. I was not emailing every day or constantly calling them, I know that doing so would likely just slow things down. I hated having to regularly ask for updates like this as I don't like it when clients do this to me, but I felt like things wouldn't move if I didn't. To sum up my experience, it felt like stumbling along a dark tunnel with no idea when you'd reach the end. Not knowing was the worst part, it was a big black unknown that hung over me, Alex and Imogen did little to alleviate the situation, if anything they charged me extra for it. Update: I think I may have figured out the source of all of the positive reviews... Convey Law offer a prize draw system where you could win £100, £250 or £1000 for posting a review... I have a feeling this review won't be in the running for winning one of these prizes 😅 I imagine this has a positive impact on their Trustpilot rating without necessarily warranting such high praise. i.e. take the very positive reviews with a boulder of salt.

Use another firm

Do not use this firm. They add in a ton of additional costs once you start the process that were not included in the original quote. By the time our searches came back our quote had increased 230% and nothing untoward had been identified! When we queried this we were met with rudeness and no real explanation as to why all the additional costs were adding up
