We instructed Kingsley Bond based on a recommendation from our estate agent, and it turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes in our property purchase. Our case involved overseas gifted funds and international AML documentation. It quickly became clear that the firm lacked the experience required to deal with anything beyond a straightforward UK source of funds case. Rather than being upfront about this, they accepted our instruction and repeatedly gave us incorrect or impractical guidance. We were repeatedly told to “just send us everything you have and we’ll see,” but received almost no meaningful guidance on what would actually satisfy their compliance requirements. At one point, we submitted all of our AML documents in a ZIP file. A week later, we were told they had not even started reviewing them because they couldn’t open the ZIP file. That meant an entire week had been wasted without anyone looking at our case. The delays continued throughout the transaction. Our search report took weeks to reach us, despite the report itself showing it had been returned by the council much earlier. We repeatedly had to chase for updates and were rarely given any explanation for the delays. After months of unnecessary stress, wasted time and legal fees, we were eventually told they could not proceed with our case. We immediately switched to another solicitor, who demonstrated a much better understanding of international source of funds requirements and handled the matter far more efficiently. If your purchase involves international documentation, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Based on our experience, Kingsley Bond simply did not have the expertise to handle our case, and accepting it in the first place resulted in months of unnecessary delays. Without doubt, this was the worst professional service we have ever experienced. To make matters worse, our client funds have still not been returned despite there being no justification for them continuing to hold them. Given the delays and the lack of any satisfactory explanation, I intend to raise this matter with the Solicitors Regulation Authority, as I believe their handling of our client funds warrants regulatory review.

Dealing with solicitors can often be a painful process, but Kingsley Bond have been an absolute breath of fresh air. They recently handled my remortgage, and the whole thing was completed efficiently and exactly on time. What stood out most was their communication. They are incredibly responsive to emails, often getting back to me in under 30 minutes, which made the entire process stress-free. Matthew Le Bas was fantastic throughout, providing brilliant advice and keeping everything moving forward. I would definitely recommend Matthew and Kingsley Bond to anyone looking for a reliable conveyancer.
