Extremely ingenuine experience with Complex Law
My experience with Complex Law has raised significant concerns regarding transparency, communication, and adherence to expected professional standards. What was initially presented as a straightforward eligibility check for a potential claim progressed into a formal engagement without, in my view, sufficient clarity around the nature or implications of the agreement being entered into — something I understand is an area of increasing regulatory focus. A signature was requested early in the process, but it was not clearly framed as a binding legal instruction. Importantly, I was not provided with the full terms of the agreement at the point of sign-up. This documentation was only made available several months later, removing any meaningful opportunity to review the terms in advance or to make use of a cooling-off period. Key information, including potential fees, was not clearly brought to attention at the outset. Despite making multiple attempts to contact the firm to seek clarification — particularly as I received repeated unsolicited requests for personal identification documents (such as a passport or driving licence) — including correspondence in early April, I received no response. More recently, I received a demand for £1,080 via a Stripe payment link, without any accompanying breakdown or explanation of how the figure had been calculated. In my view, both the lack of transparency and the method of requesting payment fall below what would typically be expected of a professional legal services provider. I was also included in an email communication in which numerous recipients were visible to one another in the “To” field, rather than being appropriately anonymised. This raised serious concerns for me regarding data protection and GDPR compliance. In my view, the response lacked appropriate accountability and was attributed to an “IT issue” without further explanation. Overall, my experience has been characterised by a lack of clarity, poor communication, and practices that, in my view, fall short of the standards expected within the legal profession. I would strongly encourage prospective clients to seek full written terms at the outset, ensure they fully understand the implications of any agreement, and consider comparing with alternative providers who demonstrate clear and transparent practices.
