Unfortunately, our experience with Axis Legal has been beyond poor and disappointing, despite the number of positive online reviews. We decided to pull out of the property purchase nearly 2 months (!!) before the planned exchange date and we were met with £480 punitive/abortive fee on top of all the search fees paid before. When asked how did they arrive at this particular amount (which was not clearly defined in their additional fees list), they could not say why this was £480 instead of £300 or any other amount. That made me question the transparency of these people. Upon opening our file we were given an option to pay extra £150+VAT to avoid any abortive fees in case of no complete. I think it’s dishonest not to disclose up front what the fees would be. I didn’t expect to get any refund from them but to more than double my bill as a result is ridiculous. These solicitors also have a very outdated systems and processes. We had to faff about with getting our IDs certified in the local post office and lots of extra paperwork needed to be posted to them via mail. We couldn’t visit their office as we live more than an hour away. Most companies these days have digital portals and electronic ID checks but these guys kept coming up with excuses that the portal is broken or some other story. If you want a quick, smooth and digital conveyancing process, these people are not for you. Also their communication was subpar throughout the process. They are very responsive to get your file opened and to receive your initial fees, but the communication becomes very passive after that and some promises deadlines for reports were missed too. We are looking to buy another property now and needless to say that I will be looking elsewhere for solicitors. Don’t forget that every client you punish is a potential future customer you are losing. I actually wanted to also do a will after purchasing property but I will be going elsewhere with that task. There are far better solicitor firms out there who actually respect their clients’ time, money, and trust. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere and steering well clear of this firm unless maybe if you expect your conveyancing process to be 100% hiccup free and successful. Lesson learned!

Axis dealt with my conveyancing and I cannot recommend them highly enough. Lisa and Tom went over and above through what was a difficult process. I would definitely recommend for all your conveyancing needs.
