All I needed was certification of ID for a legal document (Will) being drawn up by another lawyer. It's a minor bit of admin work. I was told nobody was in to do it on the day, but not offered another date. I had to ask to be let into the office instead of standing on the doorstep trying to hear the intercom over the traffic noise. The receptionist said the solicitor was in court (fair enough) but treated me like an idiot - questioned my ID so the solicitor "didn't waste her time". OK, I might not be a client offering a big job, but I'd still be a client, paying literally to have a photocopy of a passport stamped. They just couldn't have been more disinterested or unwilling to help.
