If you want to find a solicitor with no action, no response, no update and badly attitude when you ask for a progress. You should find Obaseki & Co Solicitors.
It's really a disaster!
I am selling my property in UK in 2023 and I was being referred to Obaseki. The solicitor requested me to pay full at the beginning, without any work done. Ok, I have paid in full and hope to start of work.
During the selling, buyer solicitor has sent serval emails to ask for some documents. He didn't follow up, find any way to resolve queries. Buyer and agent has been chasing me many times. Obaseki didn't give me any update, any progress, where it's stuck on. Just sit there and wait for the documents would arrive to him while there should be some professional legal questions to be resolved in order to obtain such documents.
I have done all follow up work on behalf, sending to request landlord for document, liase with parties to see why the documents cannot be provided. I was selling a UK property, but the solicitor is located in Asia timezone. He accepted my case but never willing to work or give a call in UK time zone. So why did he accept my case if he cannot support in UK time zone? What a cheat!
And everytime I ask him progress or nicely ask if anything I can assist to progress faster. He would become impatient, and giving all blame on me, warning me should not contact by buyer, but if he has responded to counterparty, they would not need to find me to chase him, asking me why the solicitor seems disappear without respond anything meaningful at all.
I expect, as a professional, if you are following up on something, you need to give a respond and discuss if anything issue.
and finally, I have changed solicitor halfway, because it just totally not work out. I have spent GBP 1980 as fee to them and case is not completed and progress at all.
and simply like "landlord certificate" that buyer is requesting, he didn't check about it's about building safety act 2022 which is actually after my purchase earlier, and hence I do not have such document when i purchased and need to ask landlord to provide. All thing i need to google out by myself to get hints. He only gives a blame on me that I didn't get the document when i purchased.
