Car Claim

I dealt with Maya Singh who has been exemplary, she explained everything in a straight forwad way that I could understand. She is a star.

I got a bad ride.

A driver hit and runs me on a roundabout I take a photo of her car, she is found. I'm told OCL Solicitors will take her to court on behalf of my insurance - One Call. I provide evidence including details of a witness (never contacted). I'm actually told by OCL that the driver has admitted fault. They go from suddenly making contact with me to no contact at all. At renewal my premium is nearly double and I'm told their is an unfinished case by new insurers when I attempt to get quotes. I try to contact OCL and my insurer to find out what has happened, I get no response despite my attempts. I leave that insurer. I pay 2 years of higher premiums going forward. In the third year I suddenly get contact from OCL Solicitors and stating that I am the defendant in a case for that very same accident. My husband and I read the driver statement. The driver states that she entered the roundabout for a 4th exit turn in the outside lane (of 3), she admits continuing all the way around the roundabout in the outside lane, eventually crossing over the 3rd exit in the outside lane (this lane is a turn left only filter lane) to continue on to the 4th exit. She crashed into me at the third exit where she would have been expected to turn left (legally) I was in the middle lane which also turns left. The whole statement was an admission of fault. In addition to the bad driving this driver also drove away, I stopped and knocked on her window to get details, she asked if her car was damaged I said both cars are damaged we need to swap details, she drove away. For the court case I insisted they contact my witness as they did not the first time. I said I would only attend court if my witness is included. However even with the statement which was an admission of fault my husband and I had to explain to so-called expert solicitors in the field why the drivers statement is an admission of fault. They seem to be confused about everything from where she was entering the roundabout to where she was turning when it was all very clear. Even on the day of the case although we had a nice barrister she also did not seem to understand that entry on a fourth exit turn needs to be on the inside lane and crossing over a filter lane is not permitted. Fortunately the judge understood perfectly I won the case the judge deemed the other driver negligent. He also deemed that the other driver's behaviour was unreasonable for bringing me to court when she was so clearly at fault. However all I got back was court costs for the day around £90 and some travel fees. Me and a colleague both NHS workers had to take the day off work. My husband and I actually were the people that won that case, everyone in the solicitor agency seemed confused. They had a statement from the other driver for a couple of years and didn't pursue her, they only defended me (really the insurance company it was in their name) to avoid paying her for her car. That statement was a gift but not used. Meanwhile I have had a couple of years of higher insurance premiums and a lot of inconvenience. They never compensated me for any of my other losses or my complaint that they should have pursued this driver in the first place, rather rather than me ending up being the defendant in a hit and run that was perpetrated against me. I would not recommend OCL they are a terrible set of solicitors with poor practices poor professional knowledge. Both One Call and OCL did not notify me they dropped the original case and did not respond to requests to find out what happened. The solicitors defence is I should be happy as we won the case, really this isn't the point. The only people placed in a righted position has been the large insurance company and OCL solicitors. The person paying to be protected by insurance was hit and run, ignored, then charged higher premiums, then taken to court as a defendant, then poorly compensated when I won the case. It was a washing machine ride, if you don't want a ride like this choose another solicitors.

Above & beyond

After a long & protracted personal injury claim Claire & her team have gone above & beyond, throughout the whole process, even after the claim was finalised. Just want to thank Claire, for all her support over a very long 3 year process, without her help, I think I would have been floundering

Smooth and Professional Service

My experience with OCL Solicitors has been excellent so far. The process has been clear, straightforward, and easy to follow. Communication has been great throughout, and everything has been explained in a way that’s easy to understand. They have handled my claim professionally and kept me updated at each stage.
