Excellent service

Core legal acted for me in my sale and purchase back in January. Sally in particular was very informative and kept us up to date at all times. All emails and calls were answered in a timely manner and I would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends.

Thanks again.

Terrible

I wish I would have seen the reviews before going with Core Legal Solicitors. Our experience from start to finish was nothing but stressful. Nothing is communicated properly, having to continuously chase & as first time buyers there was no support at all in fact the way we were spoken to was unprofessional, unfriendly and rude. I didn’t even speak to our solicitor until after I wrote an email to voice how I felt as I client (around 3 months in). Even on the day of completion (which they couldn’t agree until last minute), there was wrong information given to us in terms of collecting the keys. The payment was taken from our lifetime ISA’s with more charge than we thought. The search fees were not paid to core legal and therefore the response is that they do not account for these on the completion statement. This has not been made clear to us it is an additional payment and we were under the impression that with core legal being the ones who requested this to happen- it would all be covered in a total bill we were originally told of. I even messaged to ask about this and had no clear response. I have looked at the “additional charges” and it is not mentioned in here either. I wish we would of had clear communication and none of the jargon.
There has been a total lack of communication through this whole process and it needs to be raised as to how unsupported we have been made to feel.
I wouldn’t recommend for anyone..

Dont use CORE LEGAL

Avoid using this firm to deal with your mortgage case. I had to chase my case worker many times throughout Jan 2024. I once communicated to them via telephone and it almost seemed to me that the female dealing with my case had no conversation skills and struggled to put her words across.

They demanded £999 upfront payment on the afternoon on day before the completion which was caused by their errors. They did not even have the courtesy and phone me to make me aware of the emergency!

Do not take your chances, especially with them! They can only apologise and not correct / reimburse you for their mistakes

We are in the cost of living crises, so go directly to trusted high rated banks make an appointment and apply for the mortgage yourself. Use their solicitors.

They are all trainee solicitors and amateurs here.

Read other negative reviews. Should have been alerted before.

-No conversation skills on telephone
-Chasing up for updates
-Last minute error costing £1000!

Do yourself a favour and DO NOT use this firm

My property was finalised in September 2022. Went okay, no major issues.
The issues occurred once the property went through and payments had been made.
Firstly, I’m a first time buyer- was charged stamp duty. This has now been resolved but it took months of constantly emailing/calling. Emails left unanswered, voicemails ignored. Was refunded in December 2022 but communication was very poor. Secondly, I have an help to buy ISA which I sent all information over to core legal to claim my government bonus- this has still not been sorted. I have got no response from Sally my solicitor. Not even acknowledging my emails or phone calls. I have tried daily emails and calls but still not response starting formal complaint to try get this resolved.
Finally, I have had another clients confidential informed sent to me. To my knowledge the other client has not been made aware of this error.
There is no way to contact them other than email. Phone calls are not answered. The service I have received is unacceptable

Do not go anywhere near these people

A few years ago we tried to use Core Legal for the purchase of my sons house in Durham with a student mortgage. Initially there agent The Conveyancing Calculator put us in touch with Core Legal who sent out some paperwork and charged us £395. We duly returned the paperwork and received an email saying they where working on it and, despite much increasingly frantic effort on our and the vendors estate agent's part, that was the last we heard from them. This lack of any response very nearly caused us to lose the house purchase, but we managed to find a local conveyancer who pulled out all the stops and got things sorted very quickly. For what it's worth I'd suggest you use a local firm for any conveyancing unless they happen to be this shower.

Awful company, worse customer service I have ever had. Trust me, avoid

Dealing with core legal was one of the worse experience I have ever had. Buying a property would have been much less stressful if they had bothered keeping me updated and avoided silly mistakes.

If I could give zero stars I would ! Ashleigh and Anthony Bastain just did not care about anything until it was time to complete.

Due to their incompetence , I had to delay the exchange by another week, cancel a holiday and make new arrangements for another completion day.

The worse thing about Core Legal is the lack of customer service, there were none. They do not reply to emails or calls. Not once during the whole process did Ashleigh or Anthony bother calling me. Ashleigh called me once to confirm my bank details and that was on completion date. I begged them to call or email me but no one ever did. Was so frustrating.

Their customer service department has no clue to what the solicitors are doing and cannot reach or call or email them..what sort of company operates this way.

Most of the time the people on the phone got angry when I demanded to speak to my solicitor and kept saying that there is nothing they could do.

I am now hoping that people will read this review before choosing this company and please, trust me, go else where. Awful awful company to deal with.

Shocking

These do certainly not take the stress out of moving home they add to it, I move last year and I can only concur with the previous one star comments. My advice would be to look elsewhere.
