Jen Law Earlier this year I was arrested and held overnight on suspicion of having committed a very serious criminal offence. When released on pre-charge bail, I contacted Jen and explained fully what had occurred, this meant disclosing some personal and sensitive details to her. She was unfazed by this information, agreed to act for me, after which she provided clear, calm comments and advice on how best to handle this and she took action immediately. She was efficient in her dealings with the police officers and detectives concerned and was able to explain to them why they must release both information that was being withheld, questions that were unanswered and property that was being unnecessarily retained. She was immediately successful in these requests which had been ignored when asked by me previously. Her interactions with the police by email or phone have a light touch, but they also can leave no doubt as to how serious she is in protecting her client's rights, by firmly and confidently dealing with any issues or actions by the police that might not meet current guidelines. Communication was extremely good. I was updated regularly by phone and email, either by Jen or Sarah Hockin her assistant, both knew the current state of play and were able to answer any questions I had pretty much immediately. Asking Jen and her team to act for me was the best decision I could have made. Their local knowledge as well as skill handling the case during the 3 months that is was ongoing reduced my stress levels, restored my self-confidence and let me sleep at night. And as you may have guessed, as I'm not writing this review from prison that Jen's efforts have prevailed and we were informed recently by the police that no further action would be taken. I can only say that without Jen, her team and their work on my behalf the situation could have ended very differently. Based on my recent experience, if you are facing any issue involving the police or potential criminal proceedings get on the phone immediately to Jen as I would recommend her, her team and her firm Slee Blackwell without hesitation. PS I know this may seem like a fake review written by a family member or friend. I am neither. However, I was arrested and held in police custody on suspicion of committing a very serious criminal offence. Had the case gone forward a trial would have been held in Crown Court in front of a jury and if found guilty I could have been subject to the maximum penalty of a life sentence. So unless you have also faced such a prospect, do not dismiss my level of praise in this review as overrated, I can assure you it is genuine.
