This area covers offences connected with how a person drives, including speeding, careless or dangerous driving, drink or drug driving, using a mobile phone while driving, and failing to comply with road traffic signs. A solicitor practising Driver Conduct reviews the evidence, advises on defences, handles representations to the magistrates’ court, drafts mitigation, negotiates with police and prosecutors, and represents the client at trials, hearings or appeals, including any application to vary or revoke penalties or disqualification decisions. The work is shaped by the facts of the offence, the driver’s record, admissibility of evidence, and any potential defences or alternative sanctions such as fixed penalties or driver improvement courses.
Where a solicitor protects your position
The consequences are time-sensitive and can include disqualification from driving, fines, penalties, or criminal charges. A solicitor provides guidance on the implications for the client’s ability to drive, employment, and personal circumstances, and coordinates with the relevant authorities to secure the most appropriate outcome.
