This area covers when an employer reduces staff through redundancy and related decisions. It includes advising on lawful selection, handling consultation with staff and unions, and negotiating settlement where appropriate. A solicitor helps draft and review redundancy notices, collective redundancy notices under the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992, and any associated documentation such as a redundancy consultation strategy and individual severance agreements. They also advise on the evidential and procedural requirements to avoid unfair dismissal claims and help prepare representation for any statutory processes or Employment Tribunal claims if applicable.

What Reductions in Force clients highlight
“I had a meeting with Daniel regarding an employment issue. He was approachable and supportive throughout the process. I felt that he gave me clear, constructive advice about how to conclude an upsetting chapter at work. He allowed me to discuss my concerns and feelings; he listened well; and he made me feel that I could move forward with my life. ”

What Reductions in Force clients highlight
“Great service form start to finish. With the help from Hannah Ross and Sarah Sowden, they managed maternity cover and a very tricky and slow opposition. All whilst being considerate of my incurring costs and an emotional and stressful situation. For me however, it's always the human approach they take and for this, I'd happily always recommend to anyone and everyone. ”
