This area covers problems and questions about who owns property and the accuracy of the title to land or a house in England. A solicitor in this field drafts and reviews title documents, investigates chain of title, applies to the Land Registry to register or correct entries, handles disputes over ownership or boundaries, and advises on how title issues affect selling, buying or mortgaging a property. The process is shaped by property law, title deeds, and the Land Registry system.

“I would highly recommend Harry Wilshaw at Orwins. He has recently acted for us on the purchase of a track adjoining our property, which turned out to be considerably more complicated than we had originally anticipated. Harry was thorough and persistent in working through the historic title documents and investigating the various rights affecting the land. He took the time to explain the issues clearly, kept us informed throughout and made sure we understood exactly what we were buying and what the implications were for us as owners. Importantly, when additional third-party rights came to light, Harry explained the implications and pursued the matter on our behalf, ultimately helping us secure a £20,000 reduction in the purchase price. We really appreciated his attention to detail, his clear advice and the way he worked to protect our interests throughout the transaction. Buying property can be stressful, particularly when unexpected complications arise, but Harry gave us confidence that the details were being properly investigated and dealt with. We are delighted that the purchase has now completed and are very grateful for all his hard work. One particularly memorable example of Harry’s commitment was when he sent us an important document at 1am, just before he was due to go on holiday, so that we could provide it to our barrister. That level of dedication and consideration really stood out to us and reinforced our confidence that he genuinely cared about achieving the best outcome for his clients. We would have no hesitation in recommending Harry to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, diligent and conscientious solicitor.”
