We contacted Rosalind after Dad's CHC funding assessment was turned down. We had already asked for and received copies of the two! DSTs and it was clear that correct proceedures had not been followed and that we were sure, with considerable evidence, that Dad did meet the requirements for CHC funding. Rosalind was very reassuring when she heard the details of the case and was clear about what she would need from us and also about the cost. Comminication by phone and email was clear and we were always able to speak to Rosalind when ringing. The case she put together (32 pages) relied heavily on the information we sent because, as she will tell you, it is us who understood Dad's condition best but it was fully supported with all the legal evidence necessary and written in very clear language despite the regular referrals to the guidelines and law surrounding the case. The evidence in our case was clear and substantial however because of the way the appeal was put together by Rosalind we did not even have to go to an appeal panel as the decision was overturned before that was necessary just on the case Rosalind submitted. If you feel you have a strong case I would recommend speaking to Rosalind for advice, she has done an excellent job for us.

CHC withdrawn without good reason following MDT-DST assessment April 2018. Appeal against this was turned down January 2019 and on advice from Rosalind Hughes we proceeded to an Independent Review. Because of delays due to Covid19 the IRP did not take place until March 2022.The Independent Review Panel declared the decision of April 2018 to be unsound andCHC was restored back-dated to April 2018. I cannot over-emphasise the excellent advice and support given by Rosalind during this time. In particular she worked prodigiously in preparing the final submissions for the IRP hearing. The ethos of caring with professionalism suggested by the name of the firm has been fully borne out in my experience.

Rosalind carried out an amazing service for my familly in presenting a case on 2 occasions that resulted in claiming back care fees from the CHC for care that my mother should have received from them during her long battle with dementia. We had been denied CHC funding which resulted in my mother having to pay at certain periods for both normal care and 24 hour one to one care. My mother was in a dedicated EMI unit, and was very agressive towards family, staff and other residents which resulted in the home giving us notice, and then not being able to find another home that would take her. Rosalind listened to the facts we presented and took on our case. She supported me during periods of stress in trying to proceed with the claim. Without her support, knowledge, dedication and determination we would not have been sucessful. She never gave up, especially on the second claim, where it was being denied at every stage. We were so grateful to see justice done and will always appreciate her efforts on our behalf. I would not hesitate to recommend Rosalind to assist in any of you care issues.

We first spoke to Rosalind in 2017 after my late mother went into dementia care. She convinced us that we had a good case for CHC funding even though the Local Authority had refused to support us, and agreed to pursue a claim on a ‘no-win, no-fee’ basis. This proved a protracted process as the LA was very difficult to deal with but Rosalind’s persistence, professionalism and previous experience were such that our claim was eventually settled in full around three years later. From our perspective, this was a job that was extremely well done with an outcome that exceeded all expectations.
