Absolutely — I’ve added the four-year journey so the ending carries more weight. We are incredibly grateful to Raashid Hussain, Senior Solicitor at Vestra Lawyers, and his team for all their help with our spouse visa application. Our immigration journey was far from straightforward. We are an LGBT couple in a genuine long-term relationship, but because we were in a long-distance relationship and had not been able to cohabit, we previously experienced three refusals under the unmarried partner route. On top of this, my immigration history later became more complicated because I had previously entered the UK as a visitor and overstayed for almost a year. Before taking our case forward, Raashid carefully examined all of our previous refusal letters and immigration history. He was very transparent from the beginning about the strengths, risks and complications of our case. Rather than simply submitting another application, he wanted to make sure everything was done properly. Following his professional advice, I returned to my home country so that we could submit a fresh spouse visa application from there. What impressed us most was how accommodating and approachable Raashid was throughout the process. Even while I was overseas, he worked around the time difference, communicated clearly, answered our concerns and constantly reassured us that our application was being handled properly. We had previously approached other solicitors, but unfortunately our applications were unsuccessful. Our experience with Raashid was completely different.
