More Than Just Solicitors — Genuine Support When I Needed It Most

I cannot thank Making and Dixon enough for the incredible support they gave me during one of the most difficult and emotional times of my life. My child contact case was extremely stressful, but from the very beginning they treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine understanding. They took the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and guide me through each step of the process so I never felt alone or overwhelmed. Their knowledge, preparation, and dedication gave me confidence when I needed it most. They fought my corner while always keeping the focus on what truly mattered — my children. What stood out most was not only their legal expertise, but their compassion. They understood how emotional the situation was and supported me both legally and personally throughout the case. I will always be grateful for everything they did for me and my family. I would highly recommend Making and Dixon to anyone who needs a solicitor that is not only highly skilled but also genuinely cares about their clients.

Domestic Abuse Legal Aid Farce!

I approached Makin Dixon solicitors in October 2024 after they had dealt with my divorce in 2013. I was told by the firm with whom I spoke to on the telephone that I would qualify for legal aid for my case against my ex husband who is a perpetrator of domestic abuse towards myself and was convicted of assault by battery in 2013. The application was rejected but the trainee solicitor who was appointed to my case, Samina Kousar did not tell me that it had been rejected until a few days afterwards when I had called for an update. I was angry that she hadn't told me as soon as she found out. She told me they had submitted an appeal and not to worry because they often come back with successful appeals. The result of the appeal was in January 2025! During this time my ex husband had changed my son's doctors without my knowledge, tried to change his details at school, had my child benefit stopped and also stopped paying child maintenance, insisting that my son now lived with him, which I did not agree to and I said this would be dealt with via the proper channels through the family court. Throughout the appeal, Samina sporadically sent me emails asking for more information that the legal aid agency required, surely she should have asked me all of this information before the initial application and done her job properly. In January the legal aid agency's reason for the appeal was as follows. I write to inform you that the legal aid agency has refused your application for the following reasons: · There is no indication in the statement or supporting documents of an attempt to compromise the issue(s) by solicitors. Whilst it is noted the client is a victim of domestic abuse, and it would not be appropriate for them to write to the opponent; for a non-urgent application, we would still expect the provider to write to them on the client's behalf, and as per our regulations they are under an obligation to attempt negotiation to avoid litigation. Samina should have known this before the initial legal aid application was made! Makin Dixon caused a long unnecessary delay because of their incompetence. I believe Samina did not care about my case. I believe Makin Dixon did not care about my case simply appointing a trainee solicitor who clearly did not know what she was doing. When I received the email on January 10th about the legal aid agency's refusal to grant my appeal, Samina was unreachable on the day that she sent it and failed to contact me until the following Tuesday 14th. This was unprofessional and unacceptable. I was forced to find a way to go private to get my matter dealt with immediately as the delay had caused all sorts of problems. My current legal costs are now racing past £30000! I am a single mother with two children on universal credit, I work when I can to fit around my children. Makin Dixon and Samina Kousar ought to be ashamed of themselves for describing their firm as a family law firm. I will be reporting them to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Can’t recommend enough

Makin Dixon was recommended by a family friend for support In family matters. Anthony represented me at the first few hearing’s and was always honest and made me feel he genuinely cared rather then just pushing me for more money. The services were incredible from start to finish and today I for my final hearing I was represented by Alfie who was a lovely gentleman and had a amazing friendly nature and full knowledge of my case and was well prepared although he hadn’t been present for previous hearings. Thank you for your amazing service and guidance

Terrible firm

My ex stopped me seeing my son after 2 years because we split up and I was hearing reports back even from her mother that he wasn't being fed properly. She said she had made loads of frozen food but my ex had so many people around she fed them all but only gave my son a packet of biscuits at 2 years old and made to stay in his pram. I rang social services and my ex then rang me after they had visited. 'Now you have called them you'll never see him' She stopped me seeing him and lied to the courts and Cafcass and they believed her. So I went to this firm after she had been attacked by drug dealers she owed money to. A magistrate hunted me down and told me I need to go to court as my son was being taken to court. Cut a long story short i'm telling a solicitor of this firm the story that i hadn't seen my son for 15 years. She said well my daughter sings a song 'Let it go, let it go' think it's from frozen. I held my tongue but thought how wrong is this woman? Would she have let it go if her daughter was taken away from her and she couldn't see her. Why would anybody actually say that. Very wrong and I any faith in this company. Useless.

I have recently been represented by Aneka Shoukat during a lengthy and stressful case, Aneka went above and beyond for me, kept me up to date with everything and always made sure I understood everything what was happening and what would happen next. I highly recommend Aneka to anyone going through the family courts. Aneka made a hard time alot easier, professional and supportive from the first phone call to the last hearing she represented me.
