I popped in Astwoods just after my lunch break to ask for some conveyancing done on my behalf. After the receptionist finished looking me up and down at the locked door I was let in and told not to come any closer and stay where I was, (may be this was to do with the fact that the lady had just ate, and had a case of wind . This could have explained her poor manners maybe she was in pain) rather than afternoon sir how may we help you. Well I explained what I required and was first told as I was not a client they probably not help me(so how do they get new clients if you have to be a client before they will assist you) but after I explained that the legal secretary from my current solicitor had told me that the form I required filling in need to be signed by a conveyancer, she took the time and effort to walk 5 meters to go and ask another lady if they could help. Lady two explained they could but there would be a charge (I know, fancy that a solicitor charging, odd) of £90. So, we had a short chat about what I would need and as this solicitor practice is convenient to where I worked, I was keen to use them to get the matter closed. Upon leaving I double checked the things I would require and the cost to which lady 2 said £90 plus vat. At this I smirked as I found it quite funny that they feel the need to add the vat bit later. Lady 2 obviously took exception to this then felt the need to tell me how important her job was not that I really cared as I just wanted my paper signing. Well after all that I have decided to go and take my money somewhere else where they are not rude and pompous even if they are more expensive
