Jonathan’s role is to assist clients with the difficult process of ending the legal aspects of their relationship, whilst trying to maintain as much dignity as possible between them and their former partner. Jonathan qualified as a solicitor in 2000, and has exclusively practiced in family law, with a focus on financial matters involving businesses, multiple properties, and pensions. He provides clear and practical advice to clients on the choices that are available to them when they separate, and to work through those choices in a cost-effective fashion, at what is often a difficult time. Jonathan is a Resolution: First for family Law accredited specialist in family law, with an expertise in the area of financial provision in the breakdown of married and unmarried relationships. He is a Resolution trained collaborative lawyer, and seeks to keep family disputes out of the court process wherever possible, and maintain respect for couples ability to make their own decisions for their own future. Jonathan has appeared on local radio and TV as an ‘in studio’ expert on family law matters. In his career, Jonathan has had many highlights, but regards any case in which a settlement is agreed, without the need for a court to decide, as a successful outcome for the client. In addition, Jonathan acted for a client in a particularly complex situation where her partner had died whilst she was pregnant with their child. Jonathan was able to help obtain a Declaration of Parentage for the client, so that their child had official recognition of her deceased father on her birth certificate.
