Duncan joined MK Law in March 2020, taking cases against the police and other public bodies within the sphere of the criminal justice system. Typically cases will involve allegations of wrongful arrest / false imprisonment, assault, malicious prosecution and will often include claims brought under the Human Rights Act and Equality Act. Duncan has worked in actions against police since 2012 and prior to that within criminal defence. He also pursues discrimination claims on behalf of Traveller clients, where they have been refused a service because that particular business discriminates against Travellers. Duncan featured as “lawyer in the news” in the Law Society Gazette in January 2015 following a religious discrimination case brought against HMP Belmarsh on behalf of a criminal defence solicitor refused entry to the prison. He is also a member of the Police Action Lawyers Group and on the Pro Bono Panel for the Travellers Movement Equality and Social Justice Unit.

Someone recommended MK Law Solicitors to me and had put me in contact with Mr Duncan. Long story short. After our first phone conversation. I knew my case was in safe hands and felt very confident with my claim. Mr Duncan took down all relevant details required and told me to leave it with him. He gave me all the information that were useful to me. Broke down what my rights are and what the next step was. I was receiving regular updates from Mr Duncan, on the progression of the case and a rough time scale. Not long after I was contacted by Mr Duncan and was told. I won the case and was fairly compensated. Overall. I was more than happy with the service. I would highly recommend and wouldn't think twice to use again. I am more than pleased to write this review praising and thanking MK Law and the solicitor who dealt with my case, Mr Duncan Burtwell. In conclusion to the case, I received £15,500 from the chief constable of Kent for being arrested on three occasions all without foundation or legal standing. I can recommend this firm and their high standard of expertise and thank them for the hard work in bringing this to a conclusion.
