Julian is an experienced civil litigator and is Head of our Contentious Probate team within the Disputes and Litigation department. Julian has worked at Wolferstans since 2016. Julian obtained his LLB in 1999 at the University of Leeds and later obtained an LLM (Masters in Law) in 2002 at the University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia. He was admitted in New South Wales in 2004 and worked in a medium-sized commercial and insurance firm in Sydney for 15 years, acting mainly for insurers in litigated disputes. He returned to Plymouth in 2014 and was admitted in England and Wales in 2016 when he joined Wolferstans. Julian works predominantly in the field of contentious probate and trusts disputes. He also acts in professional negligence and property ownership disputes. Over the years, Julian has acted for a wide range of clients, from individuals to multinational insurers. He takes a practical, solution focused approach to the early resolution of disputes, fighting for the best outcome for his clients through a firm understanding of their needs and desired outcomes. Julian has completed the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS) course and is a trustee of a local charitable organisation. Due to his time in Australia, Julian also continues to act as UK agent for a number of Sydney law firms. Outside of law, Julian is a keen Squash player, and enjoys the beach and kicking a football about with his two young sons.

    I engaged Julian as my solicitor as I was a beneficiary of my late father's estate. We had a very difficult sibling and a solicitor running the probate who were not up to the task.     Helping me get my inheritance after 9 years

    I would just like to say how wonderful and amazing Julian Burrows has been in finally helping me get my share of my inheritance. My late mum died on the 19th March 2016. Me and my sister were both named as executors and beneficiaries of her will. After trying to negotiate and appeal to my sister to discuss executing the Will and a timescale in 2022, I reluctantly had no choice but to engage Wolferstans Solicitors to mediate for me. Despite my sister being very very difficult to communicate with, I was finally able to get an Order for Sale last October (2024). I was finally able to get my sister to buy out my share of house on 31/3/2025 (9 years after my mum's death). Despite my sister causing me an enormous amount of emotional pain and distress as well as financial burden too, Julian has been immensely professional, patient, supportive and understanding during this very difficult process which at times has been an emotional rollercoaster. I'm so glad I made the decision to seek Julian Burrow's help at Wolferstans. An amazing man and an absolutely awesome solicitor too. Special thanks must also go to others that have assisted over the last few years such as Charles and Jonathan as well Pippa (conveyancing solicitor) who was also amazing. Thanks so so much Julian and Wolferstans in assisting me to finally resolve a very very difficult situation with a very difficult family member.     Wonderful solicitor

    My wife's aunt faced a significant problem - after her partner of over 40 years died, a conveyancing/will writing error from over 20 years ago meant that her deceased partner's adult children gained rights to over half her house. They wanted to capitalise on the mistake, but Julian Burrows stepped in and resolved the situation brilliantly. He was amazing, tenacious, but very skilful. He did a terrific job at managing the case, getting the necessary evidence, kept the clients informed, and worked out how it could be paid for. The case went to court and lasted over two years and would have been longer without Julian. The result was a total victory, with the opposing party ordered to cover all costs. I cannot recommend Julian Burrows and Wolferstans highly enough. Throughout the entire process, he prioritised his client's best interests, demonstrating both professionalism and genuine care.
