I have been qualified as a Solicitor for over 12 years and joined EMG Solicitors in July 2019 as an Associate Solicitor specialising in family law and matrimonial cases. I am regularly instructed in all areas of family law and am experienced at dealing with divorce, separation, financial matters, private arrangements for children, cases involving domestic violence and cohabitation cases. I am a keen advocate and frequently appear at courts across the North East to represent clients before Magistrates, District Judges and Circuit Judges.
I have strong negotiation skills and am able to bring many of my cases to an agreed settlement which is often challenging but very rewarding. I approach my cases in an extremely client-focussed manner and tailor my approach in each case to the individual client’s needs. Although lots of my clients have similar worries and problems, every one deals with these things in different ways and with different requirements and priorities. It is an important part of my job to build a trusting and professional relationship with my clients in order to achieve the best outcome for them and their children following some difficult circumstances.
I am a member of Resolution and believe wholeheartedly in promoting an approach to my cases which is sensitive, constructive and cost-effective.

Amazing People & Firm
If you're in need of legal support I cannot recommend EMG Solicitors enough. We approached them recently to offer support on child law with members of our The Head Shed group. Not only were they the only firm that got back to us but it was evident from the moment we spoke how much they actually cared and wanted to be involved. We had the pleasure of working with Gemma & Daisy and they us away with their knowledge and dedication to helping. Divorce
Gemma helped me navigate my way throughout the entire divorce process. She helped me with every step, giving me guidance, advice, informing me of all my legal rights, but most of all she just made me feel like she had my back throughout it all. She was amazing!

Child custody representation by Gemma Holmes.
I have just recently been through a very bitter child custody battle, I was represented through this process by Gemma Holmes who is one of the senior solicitors at EMG. The support i received from her was absolutely amazing, Gemma genuinely cares for her clients and demonstrates the utmost professionalism at all times. My case was very complex and required Gemma, along with her team I must mention Dawn her secretary and finnonula her assistant to work collectively and tirelessly to assist me through a very challenging time. Gemma was always honest and would if required tell me things I sometimes did not like to hear, but as my legal advisor this was both appropriate and necessary. I really could write at least one chapter of a book on the fantastic service I received. Legal costs are certainly not cheap but I would pay it all again to achieve the outcome that I have ( having custody of my children back ) thanks to Gemma and her team. A 10/10 team thank you and merry Xmas

Long and stressful Divorce
The whole process was lengthy and stressful obtaining a financial clean break I managed the divorce process myself, my experience with this solicitors was not particularly great especially at the end of the process when my solicitor felt my supporting information to go with my forms for the judges approval of a financial clean break was not applicable and the judge threw back the case for more information hence causing further upset stress and finances re applying, because of this I believe my case was misrepresented, other than this I would state that I achieved the overall outcome I wanted a solicitor for but I also couldn't confidently recommend your services to others.

Excellent solicitor

Excellent service
I would highly recommend EMG solicitors to anybody, needing an excellent lawfirm from reception staff to legal secretaries to solicitors. They were extremely friendly and very professional. Cannot recommend this company highly enough I will certainly be using them again in the future.
