Outstanding support during a difficult sale

I am a practising accountant and I was recommended by a local Estate Agent to use Chester & Co for the sale of a London property by a client The process became very complex and had lengthy delays and serious complications, Pebelle really supported us and sorted out every new hurdle that was put in the way, ensuring things kept moving forward. She was very good with my client who is elderly with little knowledge or understanding of UK property selling procedures. Communication was great whether by phone or e mail. She was always professional and with good attention to detail. We were charged the fee quoted at the outset plus what I felt was a very reasonable additional fee for the extra work required to complete the sale. (especially when compared to other professional fees incurred with the transaction) Anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and highly competent solicitor. Thank you for all your hard work!

Excellent Service

I recently used Chester & Co for the conveyancing of my flat sale. Lucy and her team were excellent, quick to respond to emails and readily available for any queries. My thanks to all.

Now at risk of significant financial loss

My experience with Chester & Co Solicitors was poor and fell significantly below what I would reasonably expect from a regulated firm. One transaction was delayed for over a year. Throughout this period, I was repeatedly advised that the buyer’s solicitor was hindering progress. I have since been informed directly by the buyer’s solicitor that they had in fact been actively chasing Chester & Co for several months, and that the lease documentation produced was not fit for purpose for mortgage lender approval due to missing and incomplete clauses. As a result, the documentation could not be submitted to the lender and exchange could not proceed within a reasonable timeframe. More recently, the firm declined to complete two further company property sales due to concerns relating to the personal bankruptcy of a former director, despite the company being a separate legal entity and that individual no longer holding a directorial role. Independent legal advice subsequently obtained confirmed that this should not have prevented the firm from acting on behalf of the company. Overall, the service was characterised by excessive and avoidable delay, inadequate legal work, and unclear communication about the causes of that delay. This resulted in financial loss and the need to instruct another firm to rectify the issues and progress the transactions. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this firm.

Outstanding service

We recently used Chester & Co Solicitors for both the sale and the purchase, and we couldn't be happier with the service! While the process was in no way smooth and had its delays and complications, Pebelle really supported us and absolutely bossed every situation, ensuring things kept moving forward. She understood the frustrations with us, empathised completely... yet always remained calm and collected! Communication was excellent at every stage, promptly responding to emails and calls, which made a stressful process much more manageable. Despite the hurdles, they handled everything professionally and with great attention to detail, making sure nothing was overlooked. Buying and selling property is never easy, but Chester & Co made sure we got through it with confidence. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, friendly, and highly competent solicitor. Thank you for all your hard work! 🏡

Great service for first time buyer!

Despite Chester and Co not being local to me, I went with them for the purchase of my first home via recommendation. I can say this was probably the best decision. I hear so many people talk about the stress of solicitors and delays during the process and choosing the right one can make a huge difference on the experience. I'd like to thank both Amys for their timely communications and updates throughout stage 1. My file was allocated to Pebelle and she really does have the personal touch! nothing was too much trouble and she was always happy to call me to explain anything I was unsure of. Throughout the process Pebelle made me feel like she was sharing the excitement of me buying my first home. She was very relatable and showed an interest in me and my purchase on a personal level which made the process much more digestible. I truly felt like she was protecting my best interests at all times and that this wasnt just because its her job but because she truly cares about her clients. I would highly recommend Chester and Co if you are looking for an efficient service with the personal touch!
