IHT400 and Grant of Probate
Last March 2026 I had an appt with Sydney Mitchell LLP to discuss the start of a Grant of Probate application. I met Charlotte and Kevin at this appt. Kevin took down a whole lot of notes but did not talk very much. Following this appt we were subsequently advised that an Inheritance Tax IHT400 application would also need to be submitted for father's estate. There was a lot of information about the estate, most notably the financial side. Kevin interpreted the figures and information we presented accurately and then in turn entered the figures into the IHT400 and GoP forms. Both applications were approved by HMRC well within the approval timeframes. My dealings with Kevin were straightforward. Whenever there were any questions about this whole bureaucracy process and I would telephone Kevin, he would quite elaborately explain what was happening and advise what I should do. The information was always clear to understand and easy to follow. Thank you Kevin.
