I know that divorces are major upheavals in the lives of those concerned, but Kathryn Ainsworth and her team at Machins LLP were tremendous. Admittedly, there were few sources of potential friction with my soon-to-be ex-wife, but even so the advice I received was reliably excellent, and the process was kept moving forward at the fastest tempo possible. Costs were totally reasonable. The Machins team was also very personable and I appreciate their 'Let's make this as painless as possible for everyone' approach. Five stars!

Firstly solicitors and legal battles are very costly. Generally if you are needing a solicitor emotions are going to be high. Remember how you feel in the moment will not be how you feel after the event is over. If you can mediate please mediate. Unfortunately my ex partner did not want to, therefore solicitors became involved. I hated every moment of it. Katherine was very good and very knowledgeable, she maintains a calm approach and is professional. I was very clear that i was not wanting to get involved with arguments 'he said , she said' and i wanted costs to a minimum. Katherine respected this and when i received letters from my ex partners solicitors and i wanted to explode and react she reminded me to stick with facts and did not allow me to wonder. My ex wanted to discuss items he wanted to take etc and a refused to do this via the solicitor because of the cost so Katherine dealt only with the legals and finances and i dealt directly with his solicitor over other matters. I also educated myself as much as i could, so i could understand the process to save costs. Unfortunately things can take a twist and a turn and not all solicitors have your best interest at heart remember the more you argue the more money spent. Try to stick to the end goal and be as fair as you can. I dealt with two other solicitors at Machins that were also kind and wanted to get the results for me but by far i warmed to Katherine and i am very very grateful for her support and approach and sticking to the legals and not allowing me to get into a massive fight, i felt she wanted me to get the result and she did it with poise and we got the end result that i needed. Thank you
