They seemed to be more interested in my ID, time and time again, rather than my reason for being there. This is not the old fashioned friendly family lawyer type of business but more of a large business focused on profit and expansion. Even though I gave permission, there was no communication between their various departments. To be fair I don't know if it is allowed due to confidentiality..

We used Machins for an immigration matter. The lawyer lacked knowledge in his own field and we ended up paying over £5000 for an incomplete job. They then served us papers and refused to let us settle. I will never use them again.

A very good and straight forward firm which tell you as it is. My case was complex in the extreme and I genuinely felt that they really understood the nuances. At the start we discussed the desired out come and what might be achievable. The outcome was absolutely in line which was actually achievable and exactly that which was desired. Though out the case, I always was kept abreast of developments and felt that they were on my side.

We couldn't have asked for better or kinder solicitors. They helped us with a particularly nasty neighbour dispute, always offering a reasonable and calm way forward. In the end, the other side's case fell apart, before it could go to trial and we were able to settle out of court, to our advantage, thanks to Machins' diligence and understanding. I would not hesitate to recommend them or to use them again.
