Trainee Solicitor at SEN Legal Limited

Allys Kelsey

Trainee Solicitor

I joined SEN Legal in September 2019 as a paralegal before becoming a Trainee Solicitor in April 2022. My work includes liaising with clients and experts, drafting documents and supporting the solicitors on cases. Before joining SEN Legal I worked in 2 law firms gaining 5 years of experience various areas of law, including real estate, family and litigation. When deciding to take the next step in my legal career I wanted to branch into an area of law that makes an impact on people’s lives, helping children and young adults achieve what they want from school and life seemed to be the perfect fit. I have known many people who have struggled with their education because they have not received the right support. Seeing the impact this can have on children and young people makes me motivated to help make sure that people are receiving the support they require in their education. Working in this area of law is extremely personal for me and the work that we do is very rewarding.

Richard and Allys, I couldn't thank you enough for the outstanding service, support and reassurance you provided throughout the appeal process. Your expertise in this field is unmatched, and you are deeply committed to advocating for the rights of individuals with special educational needs. With compassion and a thorough understanding of the legal intricacies involved, you both ensured that my son received the best outcome we could have ever hoped for.

ABA SLT and OT provision in mainstream for non verbal 4 year old girl

5

We came to SEN Legal after we had applied for our 3 year old girls EHCP and after 10 months the LA produced a poor EHCP which failed to specify even a 1:1 for her, when we had provided evidece of her successful ABA programme and private weekly SLT and requested these to continue. SENLegal supported us through the appeal process as well as through tribunal, and following tribunal, to obtain the final EHCP and secure the personal budget for ABA and SLT. SEN Legal were proffesional, kind, knowlegable and patient. We could not have obtained an adequete education for my daughter without them. The investment I made in them is worthwhile and I will not hesitate to use SENLegal in the future to further secure education or social care provision for my daughter when the LA fail to do so.
