Have just completed on a house sale which has taken several weeks longer than anticipated (nothing to do with our solicitor) With the persistence and professionalism of our solicitor this was finally completed yesterday.

Very easy to talk to on my first visit to the office, I was kept in the loop with all that was occuring, during what I thought was a difficult transaction, it was no trouble to McKenzie Bell to phone and email myself with updates and clear advice. I would happily recommend McKenzie Bell, Washington, to both family and friends.

Terrible experience, constantly having to chase things up, harassed for information I had handed in at the start of the process, they sat on updates for 2 weeks before telling me and after I paid for the searches they waited 6 weeks before requesting them. Another occasion, they photocopied some numbered, hand written responses by myself and sent them to our developer without typing them up professionally and without any context. Shambolic.

To top things off and add to the stress, they didnt send out our completion statement until a week after we had moved and failed to tell me they had still paid my previous estate agent £1800 at completion, even though I gave them notice earlier in the process that I had terminated my contract with them. I only found this out by checking the figures in our completion statement. However, I will say after raising a complaint I did receive my money back but this should never have happened.

I do feel there was a massive lack of transparency, honesty and professional behaviour by Mckenzie Bell's at times as they were meant to safeguard me and my wife during this stressful time.

Do not recommend.
