Rob has previously acted in cases at the County Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, but often resolves disputes without the need for court proceedings, with particular emphasis on commercial and practical objectives and outcomes, often via mediation. Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors and travelling and experiencing new cultures.

Legal Claim against me regarding a disputed loan

I had a complex loan arrangement with my ex-wife, and she took legal action against me seeking considerable sums of money to resolve her claims. The complexity of the original loan and subsequent adjustments, combined with a divorced couple’s emotions appeared to be challenging situation. Mr Newton was able to review all past documentation provided by both sides to establish the tenuous legal basis of my ex-wife’s claim and provide strong arguments in my favour. He also explained my defence in law, and the advantages and risks going forward. Through his detailed presentation of the facts, and past events, as determined under the law, we were able to settle for a very acceptable sum and the matter was concluded quickly, to my great satisfaction and appreciation.
