Hope and prey you are not a beneficiary with these people
I am currently having to deal with Slee Blackwell (Tiverton) as a beneficiary of my Dad's estate after he died in May 2026. The firm acts for the executors, but I had to deal with them directly throughout, and my experience was poor. 1. Funeral wishes sent too late. The firm held my Dad's will, but I was only told his funeral wishes two days before the funeral. By then it was too late to change anything, despite my asking from early June. 2. Promises not kept. I was told repeatedly from July that my Dad's belongings would be gathered together for my brother and me. Nothing happened for nearly three months. His car, left specifically to me, has sat on my driveway for around three months while I chased. 3. Questions left unanswered. I asked the same questions in writing for months, such as the date a bank account was closed, and never got a straight answer. The firm also admitted it had never asked for my Dad's pension details. I had to track them down myself while in serious financial hardship. They have not given me a reason why they didnt bother identifying his pensions at the start of this process. 4. Property security. After I handed over my keys, the garden gates were left unsecured twice. One bolt was being held shut with an umbrella base. It wasn't until I launched a formal complaint that I actually had confirmation that the gate has now been secured. 5. My own belongings. My laptop, clothes and other belongings are still locked in the house, with no arrangement to return them. The solicitor was aware I moved into my Dads house to care for him, and cut off access to the house so quickly that I have never had the chance to collect my belongings... 5 months later and I still have none of my things. 6. The complaints process. My formal complaint went unacknowledged for over three weeks, until I chased it through the general inbox. When the response came, every point was rejected, claiming they work for the executor... then let the executor pay your extortionate bills. I understand estates take time. But the lack of follow-through, the unanswered questions and the tone made an awful time much harder. I would not recommend them. I am fully expecting their response to be "we reject all your claims" that is their go-to for the complaints process and responses to the bad reviews they recieve here.
