I used this firm for the first time recently for advice on a redundancy, and the service was professional throughout. My expectations going in were probably too high, and that's on me. I'd heard that Allison had secured an improved settlement for other people, so I was hoping for a better outcome myself. In the end I didn't get much more than what was already on the table. In fairness, my employer appears to have followed the process correctly, so there may simply not have been much to work with. One thing worth knowing if you're in a similar position: the personal side of it, i.e. your history with the company, how long you were there, what the job meant to you, doesn't seem to carry much weight. What matters is whether the employer handled the process properly. If they did, there isn't a great deal a solicitor can do. The other thing to be aware of is cost. I received a larger bill than I was expecting, partly because of the time spent reading the background I'd provided. Anything you send over gets read, considered and charged for, so be selective about what you share and ask up front how the fees work. Looking back, I do feel let down. It wasn't made clear to me at the start that everything would be charged in this way, and I had no real visibility of what was being done as it went along. The result is that I'm worse off than I would have been had I simply accepted the original terms.
