I am a Partner and Head of Balfour+Manson’s employment law team. I am accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in employment law and am a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association. I act principally for employers in a variety of industries, with a large number of clients in hospitality, charities, sports and manufacturing. I provide day-to-day employment law support to clients as well as dealing with litigation. My contentious experience extends to all types of claims in the Employment Tribunal along with defending claims in the Employment Appeal Tribunal and Court of Appeal.     Support in the face of redundancy...

    I approached Simon when I was informed that my role was "at risk" of being made redundant. I did not cope well with this news, until I spoke to Simon. His calm, knowledgeable, reassuring manner was exactly what I needed in the state of flux I found myself in. He walked me through the process of being made redundant, what to expect from a settlement package, what different terms mean step-by-step while keeping me calm and focussed. When I spoke to Simon, I felt I had all of his focus. I felt like his only client. His knowledge of how redundancy works from both the employee and employer perspective was invaluable. Simon helped me understand why my employer was doing things the way they were doing them and what their end goal was. This helped immensely with my need to know in order to process the situation. My experience with Simon was 100% positive and I would not hesitate (and, indeed, have not) to recommend him.
